Skinner will start for the third straight game on Thursday as the Oilers attempt for a harrowing 12th straight victory. In his last seven games (7-0-0), Skinner has allowed two or fewer goals in each contest, posting a tremendous .954 SV%. Kapanen (ankle) was placed on the Injured Reserve and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Kapanen seemingly had no issue in the Blues' last game, playing 15:47 time-on-ice, above his season average, but has been placed on the injured reserve with an ankle injury and is expected to miss at least four weeks. Kapanen has struggled in his first full season with the Blues, scoring only 13 points (4G / 9A) in 42 games, his worst point-per-game pace (0.31) since his rookie season in 2017-18 with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Emberson left Tuesday's game vs. Toronto after 21:49 due to an undisclosed injury and will now be out week-to-week as he recovers. Ty Emberson
Pickard will start Thursday in Detroit.

Pickard has settled nicely into his role as the Oilers' backup netminder and has been serviceable in limited action when called upon. The Oilers are riding an eight-game winning streak, with two wins courtesy of Pickard, in which he saved 51 of 56 shots (.911 SV%). The Oilers have an excellent opportunity to extend their winning streak to nine games as -160 road favourites on Thursday against a Detroit Red Wings club that is suddenly surging, winning four of their last five games (4-1-0).

Calvin Pickard
Skinner (upper body) is week-to-week with his latest ailment.

Despite scoring two points (1G / 1A) for the Sabres on Tuesday night, Skinner suffered an upper-body injury at some point and, after receiving an MRI on Wednesday, has been deemed week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Expect JJ Peterka to be the main beneficiary, as he was stellar earlier this season during a brief stint where Skinner was out of the lineup.
