Tatar missed the morning skate with the flu but head coach Claude Julien said that there’s a chance that he could play tonight. Tatar has been hot recently, scoring two goals with four assists (six points) in his last six games.

Markstrom stopped 28 of 30 shots in the Canucks 2-1 loss in Philadelphia last night. With Thatcher Demko tweaking something in warmups last night, Markstrom will start for the second night in a row. In his three previous starts on zero rest, Markstrom is 1-2-0 with a 3.05 GAA and .892 SV%.

Markstrom stopped 34 of 35 shots in the Canucks win in Colorado on Saturday. The win was his 20th of the season and Markstrom is now 9-7-2 with a 2.92 GAA and .907 SV% on the road this season. In his first start against the Flyers, Markstrom stopped 31 of 32 shots in a 5-2 win (Dec.15).

Markstrom surrendered five goals on 34 shots in the Canucks loss to the Hurricanes on January 23rd. Markstrom went 3-3-2 with a 2.95 GAA and .900 SV%, a big step-down from his dominant December. It looks like Cholowski is going to be a healthy scratch for the second straight game, with Filip Hronek remaining in the lineup. It seems like an odd decision for a defenseman that is on-pace for 12 goals and 15 assists (27 points) in 79 games.


Lammikko, 22, had six assists in 40 games during his time with the Panthers. With Vincent Trocheck (ankle) set to make his return to the lineup on Friday, Lammikko was the odd-man-out on the active roster.


Allen allowed one goal on 29 shots in the Blues win in Washington on Monday. Jordan Binnington gave him a breather on Tuesday, so look for Allen to face the Bruins on Thursday night. The 28-year-old has not seen Boston this season but has played much better on the road—7-5-2, 2.21 GAA, .925 SV% and one shutout in 14 starts.

Markstrom allowed one goal on 24 shots in the Canucks win over the Panthers on Sunday. The win snapped a three-game losing skid for Markstrom, who has played some excellent hockey over the last month and a half. Tonight he gets the Oilers for the third time this season—he is 2-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .926 SV% in the first two meetings.

Allen allowed three gaols on 17 shots in the Blues loss to the Stars last Tuesday. Allen has now lost four of his last five starts (1-4-0) while posting a 3.46 GAA and .844 SV%. Things won’t get any easier against the Metro-leading Capitals—Allen stopped 23 of 25 shots in a 5-2 win in his first start vs. Washington (Jan.3).

Markstrom allowed four goals on 22 shots in the Canucks loss to the Coyotes on Thursday. After a nine game winning-streak, Matkstrom has now los three straight while giving up a combined 11 goals on 83 shots (.868 SV%). Markstrom is 1-3-1 with a 3.30 GAA and .910 SV% in five games against his former team since being traded to Vancouver.

However, he has a good opportunity to get back on track tonight vs. the Coyotes—Markstrom enters play at 9-5-1 with a 2.66 GAA and .914 SV% on home-ice this season.

Allen allowed four goals on just 14 shots in the Blues loss to the Islanders on Saturday. Jordan Binnington gave him the night off last night and recorded a shutout in his first career NHL start but they’ll come back to Allen tonight vs. the Stars. Allen is 8-8-2 with a 3.67 GAA and .880 SV% on home-ice this year.

The Maple Leafs are one of the most dangerous teams in the NHL and the Canucks will be without their star rookie Elias Pettersson.
