With Adam Pelech out for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury, Aho comes up from Bridgeport for the first time this season. The 23-year-old defenseman has two goals and 18 assists (20 points) in 34 games.

Jarry allowed two goals on 26 shots in the Penguins win over the Senators on Monday. Jarry is riding a six-game winning streak while posting a 1.80 GAA, .939 SV% and one shutout. Tonight he faces a Sharks team that was awful in December, going 2-9-2 while scoring just 2.08 goals per game, making Jarry a must-start on Thursday.

Heinen has been held pointless in his last five games and has just one goal and one assist in his last 12 games. David Backes will draw back into the lineup to replace Heinen.

Tonight he takes on a Predators team on a five-game point streak (4-0-1) while scoring 4.80 goals per game.

This leaves the Ducks without three of their top-6 forwards because both Ryan Getzlaf and Jakob Silfverberg are out with the flu. The Ducks recalled Daniel Sprong to fill one of the spots but the other will likely go to Jaccob Larsson and they will dress seven defensemen and 11 forwards.

Jarry stopped 33 of 34 shots in the Penguins win in Calgary on Tuesday. His brilliant run continued, as he's now 5-1-0 with a 1.31 GAA, .955 SV% and three shutouts in his last six outings. Tonight he sees an Oilers team that has lost five of their last six (1-4-1) while averaging just 2.33 goals per game.



Jarry gave up four goals on 42 shots in the Penguins' win over the Kings on Saturday. It wasn't a shutout, which is rare for Jarry lately but it was his fourth win in five games. The 24-year-old hasn't been great on the road in limited work, going 1-3-0 with a 3.12 GAA and .908 SV% in four games.

Rust missed Monday's practice with an illness and is listed as a game-time decision for Tuesday's game in Calgary. The Penguins have been skipping morning skates this season, so don't expect to get an update on his status until two hours before puck-drop.

Malkin missed the last two games with an illness but was back at practice on Monday and is expected to play Tuesday in Calgary. Since Sidney Crosby got hurt, Malkin is tied for ninth in the NHL with 21 points (6G / 15A) in 14 games.

Bemstrom is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks so he was going to end up on IR eventually. The move to IR opens up a roster spot to call-up some reinforcements after Josh Anderson, Sonny Milano and Ryan Murray all left Saturday's game with upper-body injuries.


Jarry stopped all 17 shots that he faced in the Blue Jackets' shutout win over the Blue Jackets on Thursday. Jarry has posted three shutouts in his last four starts, going 3-1-0 with a 0.74 GAA and .971 SV% over that span. Overall, he is 7-2-0 with a 1.19 GAA and .958 SV% on home-ice this season.

The Penguins did not hold a morning skate but head coach Mike Sullivan announced that Malkin will miss tonight's game due to an illness. The Penguins will be in tough without Malkin or Sidney Crosby. Joseph Blandisi was recalled this morning and is expected to play in Malkin's place.

Jarry allowed three goals on 25 shots in the Penguins' loss to the Canadiens on Tuesday. The win snapped a two-game shutout streak for Jarry, who has clearly taken over as the Penguins' top netminder for now. He is 6-2-0 with a 1.35 GAA, .955 SV% and two shutouts on home-ice this season but the Penguins will be without Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin tonight.
