Mismash was a second-round pick in the 2017 draft and turned pro in 2022 after four years at the University of North Dakota. The 23-year-old winger had 12 points (6G / 6A) in 57 games with Milwaukee (AHL) and will likely report to Syracuse (AHL) next year.
McDonagh has four years left on his seven-year deal that carries a $6.75M AAV cap-hit. The Lightning recently approached McDonagh to waive his no-trade clause in an effort to clear some cap-space. The Lightning have two key UFA's in Ondrej Palat and Jan Rutta and this trade could help get both of them under contract.
