McCabe is a big minute eater on the Blackhawks blueline, so this void will be tough to fill for the next two or three games. Calvin de Haan is the most likely candidate to move up and play with Seth Jones while McCabe is out.

Marner will miss Saturday's game in Colorado and could miss Tuesday's game in Vegas, depending on if he clears protocol or not. With Marner out, Alexander Kerfoot shifted to the Auston Matthews' line and Ilya Mikheyev moved into the top-6 at Friday's practice.

Nylander was the No.8 overall pick in 2016 but was traded to Chicago in 2019 and has spent all of 2022 with Rockford (AHL). Nylander who has 32 points (13G / 19A) in 84 career NHL games, has tallied 12 points (8G / 4A) in 23 AHL games this season. It's unclear whether or not he will report to the Penguins or the AHL.

Matthews tested positive for COVID-19 early in the week but returned negative tests since and has been cleared to play Wednesday vs. the Oilers. Matthews had a bit of a sluggish start to the season but has scored 19 goals with 12 assists (31 points) in his last 22 games.

Marner has been practicing recently and was trending towards playing, but activating him on Saturday morning makes it official. Marner, who has 21 points (6G / 15A) in 24 games this season, has not played since December 1st.

This is obviously a big blow for the Golden Knights. Pacioretty leads the team in points-per-game (1.31) having scored 12 goals with nine assists (21 points) in 16 games. Pacioretty will likely go on LTIR in order to create enough salary space to eventually activate Jack Eichel.

Laughton, Carter Hart and Derick Brassard join Sean Couturier, who was added to the protocol list on Sunday. Despite losing four regulars to start the week, they are expected to get Kevin Hayes and Morgan Frost back in time for Wednesday's game.
