The Maple Leafs acquired Scott Laughton, a 2025 4th round pick and a 2027 6th round pick from the Flyers for Nikita Grebenkin and a conditional 2027 1st round pick ahead of the trade deadline on Friday. The 30 year-old Laughton registered 27 points (11G / 16A), 33 blocks, and 129 hits in 60 games with the Flyers this season.

The Flyers have retained 50% of Laughton's contract in a trade sending him to the Maple Leafs. Laughton adds some depth down the middle of the ice for the Maple Leafs, providing some grit and timely offensive contributions. The 30-year-old Laughton has been productive in a secondary role for the Flyers, scoring 23 points (9G / 14A) in 47 games this season, but only has one point (0G / 1A) in his last seven. Rodrigo Abols will make his NHL debut on Tuesday, drawing in for Laughton.

Laughton was absent from practice on Monday to attend to the birth of his child but will be ready to suit on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. The 30-year-old Laughton has had a high-impact presence early in the 2024-25 season, tallying four points (2G / 2A) and 18 hits through five games.

Laughton will return from injured reserve after missing the Flyers' last four games due to an upper-body injury. The 28-year-old will have a welcome return for Philadelphia who has lost ten straight games. Laughton has three goals and seven points with 44 SOG while averaging a career-high 19:09 TOI.

Laughton is now expected to be out approximately two weeks after it was announced Tuesday he had been placed on the injured reserve due to an upper-body injury. It is a massive loss for the already-injured Flyers as Laughton had averaged 19:09 TOI in a constant top-six role through 18 games this season. He had three goals and seven points with a -10 plus/minus and 44 SOG prior to the injury.

Laughton has missed the last 12 games with a concussion but is "excited to play" Tuesday vs. the Blue Jackets. Laughton, who has 13 points (5G / 8A) in his last 15 games, will centre a line with Travis Konecny and Noah Cates.

Laughton, Carter Hart and Derick Brassard join Sean Couturier, who was added to the protocol list on Sunday. Despite losing four regulars to start the week, they are expected to get Kevin Hayes and Morgan Frost back in time for Wednesday's game.

The Flyers will return to the ice for the first time in 10 days after a COVID-19 outbreak but will do so without six regulars. Laughton, Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek, Travis Konecny, Justin Braun and Oskar Lindblom will all miss Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

Laughton missed the last seven games with a groin injury but he will play Tuesday in Los Angeles. Laughton will likely replace Andy Andreoff and skate on the third line and will look to build on the nine points (4G / 5A) he amassed in his first 19 games.

Laughton was on the ice for Friday's practice but will miss at least another game when the Flyers face the Sharks in San Jose. With Laughton still out, the recently waived Andy Andreoff will play on Saturday.
