Eller left Game 2 with a lower-body injury and did not return. Eller played just 9:38 TOI before retiring to the dressing room. Head coach Peter Laviolette called him day-to-day, so his status for Game 3 is up in the air.
Borgström was a first-round pick (No.23 overall) in 2016 and was traded to Chicago in the deal that sent Lucas Wallmark and Lucas Carlsson to the Panthers. Borgström spent the 2021 season in Finland, where he had 11 goals and 10 assists (21 points) in 30 games. Oshie suffered a lower-body injury vs. the Flyers on Saturday and will not play tonight vs. the Bruins. Nicklas Backstrom returns from a one-game absence to replace Oshie.
Backstrom missed Saturday's game vs. the Flyers but will play tonight vs. the Bruins. This game doesn't matter for Washington but they will not give the veteran another night of rest. Since the start of April, Backstrom has two goals with 14 assists (16 points) in 19 games.
Ovechkin has missed the last three games but was on the ice for Monday's practice and will be a game-time decision on Tuesday. The Capitals' are locked into second place in the East, so Tuesday's game does not matter. It will be interesting to see if Ovechkin draws in to get back up to speed or not.
Strome has been a healthy scratch for the last two games but will replace Adam Gaudette in the lineup on Monday. Strome has had some injury issues this season but comes into Monday with 15 points (8G / 7A) in 39 games.
Wilson suffered an upper-body injury in Wednesday's game in New York and did not return. He was on the ice for Friday's morning skate and will play tonight vs. Philadelphia. Wilson, who has two goals and three assists in his last six games, will skate on the third line with Michael Raffl and Daniel Carr.
Ovechkin tried to return to the lineup on Monday but only lasted one shift. He'll continue to sit out on Wednesday, potentially leaving the Capitals shorthanded upfront.
Oshie missed Monday's game after the passing of his father but will be back in the lineup on Wednesday. Oshie has played some really good hockey over the last month or so, scoring 11 goals with eight assists (19 points) in his last 19 games.
