It looks like Petan has lost out to Pierre Engvall and Dmytro Timashov for a spot on the Maple Leafs roster and Toronto needed to clear space to activate Mitch Marner from IR.

Marincin was called up to be a spare defenseman in Philadelphia last night and heads back to the Marlies to clear some cap-space to activate Mitch Marner from IR.

Marner has been out for the last 11 games with a high-ankle sprain but is expected to play Wednesday vs. the Avalanche. Marner is expected to skate with John Tavares and Ilya Mikheyev and will be back on the top power-play unit. Marner has 18 points (4G / 14A) in 18 games this year.

It is believed that Spurgeon is dealing with a broken bone in his right hand but the Wild are calling it an "upper-body" injury. Spurgeon will miss at least two weeks, so look for Nick Seeler to replace Spurgeon on Thursday and moving forward.

Koivu was forced to leave Tuesday's game in Florida with a lower-body injury and missed Wednesday's practice. The Wild have labelled Koivu as day-to-day, which makes him highly questionable for Thursday's game in Tampa Bay.

Kulikov is expected to be out until the All-Star break, so his move to IR is simply a formality to open up a roster spot. The Jets used that roster spot to claim Nick Shore off of waivers from the Maple Leafs.

Vorobyev has spent the majority of the first two months with the Phantoms, where he has 14 points (5G / 9A) in 19 games. During his brief time with the Flyers, he has one assist in six games. He's expected to be in the lineup on Thursday with Michael Raffl going on LTIR.

Raffl suffered a broken right pinky in Tuesday's win over the Maple Leafs and is expected to miss one month. His move to LTIR means he will miss at least 10 games/24 days. Mikhail Vorobyev has been called-up from Lehigh Valley (AHL) to take his spot on the roster.

Kamenev is day-to-day with an illness, which also makes him questionable to play Thursday in Montreal. Matt Calvert will return to the lineup on Wednesday and replace Kamenev.

Koskinen allowed two goals on 32 shots in the Oilers win in Vancouver on Sunday. On Wednesday, Koskinen will start for the fourth time in five games and draws a tremendous matchup with the Senators in town. Ottawa played in Vancouver last night and Koskinen is 4-0-2 with a 2.55 GAA, .919 SV% and one shutout in Edmonton this season.

Burakovsky was on the ice for Colorado's morning skate but will miss his third straight game with an upper-body injury. Monitor Burakovsky's status prior to Thursday's game in Montreal.

The Avalanche announced that they expect Langeskog to return during their three-game road-trip but it won't be Wednesday. Landeskog was on the ice for the morning skate, so it's entirely possible he will play in the second-half of the back-to-back in Montreal.

Rantanen returned to the lineup on Saturday but missed the third period. Rantanen had one goal and three assists before leaving and holding him out of the third period was likely more precautionary since the Avalanche were up massive. Rantanen was also held out of Monday's practice but was on the ice for the morning skate and will play in Toronto.

Binnington allowed two goals on 31 shots in the Blues win over the Penguins last Saturday. Jake Allen started on Monday but Binnington will be back in the crease Wednesday in Pittsburgh. He just beat them and has won four of his last five starts while posting a 1.81 GAA, .946 SV% and one shutout, so don't hesitate to start him against a banged-up Penguins team.

Grubauer allowed three goals on 29 shots in Colorado's win over the Blackhawks on Saturday. Grubauer has won two in a row while stopping 45 of the 49 shots (.918 SV%) that he has faced. The 28-year-old has gone 4-3-1 with a 2.86 GAA and .912 SV% on the road this season and catches the Maple Leafs on the tail-end of a back-to-back on Wednesday.

Olivier appeared in eight straight games with the Predators but Kyle Turris was back in the lineup on Tuesday and Olivier's return to the AHL suggests he'll remain in the lineup moving forward. Olivier had one assist, six shots and a plus-1 rating during his time with Nashville.
