This is a huge step for the 2017 No.2 overall pick, who will likely head to Lehigh Valley (AHL) for a conditioning stint once he's ready for game action.

Chibisov, 26, is in his first season in North America and has seven goals with 17 assists (24 points) in 46 AHL games this season. He rotated on the Jets fourth line in his first practice with them so it doesn't look like he'll make his NHL debut on Thursday.

Rutta suffered a lower-body injury in the Lightning's win over the Golden Knights on Tuesday and he is expected to miss a couple of weeks. With Rutta out, Mikhail Sergachev moved to the top-pair in Wednesday's practice and Brayden Coburn looks like he'll be back in the lineup on Thursday.

Kreider was a full participant in Tuesday's practice but head coach David Quinn called him a game-time decision for tonight's game vs. the Maple Leafs. The Rangers are expected to shake things up, so it's unknown where Kreider will slot in if he plays.

Elliott stopped all 16 shots that he faced in the Flyers shutout win in Detroit on Monday. Elliott has won four of his last five starts (4-0-1) while posting a 1.58 GAA, .935 SV% and two shutouts. Tonight he faces a Devils team that has lost six of their last seven games (1-3-3) while averaging 3.00 goals for and 4.86 goals against per game.

Nielsen has been out since January 31st and was placed on IR retroactive to that date. With Nielsen on IR, Taro Hirose was recalled from the AHL to take his spot on the roster.

Hirose started the season with the Red Wings, posting seven points (2G / 5A) in 23 games. Since going to the AHL, the 23-year-old has scored four goals with 15 assists (19 points) in 22 games. He will take Frans Nielsen's (upper-body) spot on the roster.


Koskinen stopped all eight shots that he faced after replacing an ejected Mike Smith in the Oilers win in Calgary on Saturday. Koskinen has gone 7-5-0 with a 2.45 GAA and .926 SV% on the road this season and is 1-0-1 with a 2.83 GAA and .889 SV% in two starts vs. the Coyotes this season.

Mrazek allowed four goals on 37 shots in the Hurricanes loss to the Golden Knights last Friday. Mrazek struggled in January, going 2-5-0 with a 2.48 GAA and .910 SV% in seven games. Tonight he'll face a Blues team that his suddenly struggling. They've lost five of their last six (1-4-1) while scoring just 2.67 goals per game.

Saros allowed four goals on 33 shots in the Predators win in Washington last Wednesday. Saros has given up at least three goals in four of his last five games, the one exception was a 28-save shutout vs. the Jets, who he'll face again tonight. Saros comes into Tuesday's game at 5-4-3 with a 3.40 GAA and .895 SV% on the road this year.

Gibson allowed four goals on 22 shots in the Ducks loss to the Lightning last Friday. Gibson has gone 5-13-2 with a 3.36 GAA and .896 SV% in 20 road starts this season but draws a solid matchup in Ottawa. Since the Christmas break, the Senators have gone 2-6-6 while scoring just 2.57 goals per game.

Hogberg allowed four goals on 36 shots in the Senators loss to the Capitals last Friday. Despite posting a strong .925 SV% in his last six starts, Hogberg has gone 1-1-4 over that stretch. Tonight he faces a Ducks team that has won three of their last four road games while scoring 2.75 goals per game.
