Roberto Luongo has started the last four games including last night, which is why Reimer is expected to start tonight in Philadelphia. Smith allowed stopped an absurd 58 shots in the Coyotes’ shootout loss to the Blue Jackets on Saturday. 58 saves was a career-high for Smith, which earned him a much-deserved night off last night. He has lost three in a row while posting a 2.62 GAA and .941 SV% and tonight he faces a Blackhawks team that has gone 3-4-1 in their last eight games.
Markstrom allowed two goals on 35 shots in the Canucks’ win in Colorado on November 26th. Ryan Miller has started the last three games, but Markstrom will start tonight in New Jersey. Markstrom has gone 2-1-1 with a 2.14 GAA and .922 SV% on the road this season, but he’ll face a Devils team that has been great ton home-ice.
Mayfield, 24, has picked up two assists in two games with the Islanders this season, but just three points (1G / 2A) in 14 games with Bridgeport. There’s no word whether or not he will draw into the lineup on Tuesday.
Darling allowed two goals on 32 shots in the Blackhawks’ loss to the Jets on Sunday. With Corey Crawford out, Darling will be leaned on heavily for the next week or more. Darling has a 2.71 GAA and .912 SV% in nine games this season, but makes for a great spot-start vs. a struggling Coyotes team on the tail-end of a back-to-back.
Ramo has been skating with the Maple Leafs as he rehabs from a knee injury that he suffered last season. The Maple Leafs waived Jhonas Enroth yesterday and if Ramo is healthy enough and plays well with the Marlies they are expected to sign Ramo to be Frederik Andersen's backup.
Hellebuyck allowed a single goal on 26 shots in the Jets’ win in Chicago on Sunday. Hellebuyck has won three of his last four starts while posting a 2.37 GAA, .926 SV% on one shutout. Tonight he will make his second start vs. Detroit—he stopped 30 of 33 shots in a 5-3 win over the Red Wings in the first meeting.
Nilsson allowed three goals on 25 shots in the Sabres’ win over the Rangers last Thursday. Robin Lehner started the last two games, including last night, so Nilsson will go tonight vs. the Oilers. Nilsson has won three of his last four starts while posting a 2.52 GAA and .932 SV%. Tonight he will face an Oilers team that has lost four of their last six games.
Staal has missed the last four games with a concussion and he is expected to miss the next three games because he will stay in Caroline while the team embarks on a west coast road trip.
Bortuzzo was hurt in Saturday’s game vs. the Jets and has been moved to IR to create a roster spot to activate Joel Edmundson to take his spot in the lineup on Tuesday.
Edmundson has been sidelined since November 6th, but will return to the lineup tonight vs. the Canadiens. Robert Bortuzzo has been moved to IR to open up a roster spot for Edmundson to be activated. Edmundson has one assist in 13 games this season.
Eichel tweaked his ankle in last night’s loss in Washington, but he said he is fine and will play tonight vs. the Oikers. Eichel has played well in his first four games of the season, posting three goals and one assist. Expect a strong performance tonight as he goes head to head with Connor McDavid.
Lehtonen stopped all 23 shots that he faced in the Stars’ shutout win in Colorado on Saturday. It was Lehtonen’s first shutout of the season and he now sits at 5-7-3 with a 3.03 GAA and .892 SV% on the season. Tonight he faces the Flames for the second time—he stopped 29 of 31 shots in a 4-2 win in the first meeting.
Mason gave up two goals on 32 shots in the Flyers’ win in Nashville on Sunday. Mason has been great recently, winning his last four starts while posting a 1.71 GAA and .945 SV%. He’s playing well and tonight he faces the Panthers for the second time—he stopped 38 of 39 shots in a 3-1 win in the first meeting.
Lundqvist allowed two goals on 28 shots in the Rangers’ win over the Hurricanes on Saturday. Lundqvist has won three of his last four while posting a 2.51 GAA and .924 SV% and he is expected to make his 20th start tonight. In his first start against the Islanders, King Henrik stopped 25 of 28 shots in a 5-3 win.
Halak allowed four goals on 34 shots in the Islanders’ overtime loss to the Red Wings on Sunday. Halak’s loss moved him to 3-2-4 with a 2.81 GAA and .907 SV% at Barclays Center, where he’ll face the Rangers tonight. In his first start vs. the Rangers, Halak allowed four goals on 38 shots in a 5-3 loss.
Hammond will continue to be a yo-yo for the Senators while Craig Anderson comes and goes to be with his wife. Hammond will head out west with the team, likely to serve as Mike Condon’s backup.
Curtis Lazar was injured in Monday’s loss and will not travel out west with the team, so Varone has been recalled and will go with the team. Varone has no points in three games with Ottawa this season, but has picked up five goals and eight assists (13 points) in 18 games with Binghamton.
Anderson continues to leave the team to be with his wife and this time he leaves after playing just one game—he allowed seven goals on 43 shots in an 8-5 loss in Pittsburgh last night. The Senators will continue to lean on Mike Condon as their starter and have recalled Andrew Hammond from Binghamton (AHL) to be their backup.
Lazar left Monday’s game with an undisclosed injury and did not return and will head to Ottawa to undergo further evaluation. With Lazar out, the Senators recalled Phil Varone to take his place on the Senators’ west coast road trip.
