NHL Hockey Player News

The Ducks have recalled Joseph Cramarossa from San Diego (AHL).

Cramarossa, 23, was a third round pick (65th overall) in 2011 and has yet to make his NHL debut. Last year he had 17 points (11G / 6A) in 61 AHL games and has none in two games with San Diego this season, so he likely won’t have a significant NHL impact.

The Ducks have recalled Shea Theodore from San Diego (AHL).

Theodore, 21, had eight points (3G / 5A) in 19 games with the Ducks last year, but didn’t make the team out of training camp. However, he picked up two assists in his first two games with San Diego and is already up with the big-club. Expect him to see bottom pairing minutes and power-play time in the early going.

Budaj is expected to start Saturday vs. the Canucks.

Jeff Zatkoff was injured in practice this afternoon, so it looks like Budaj will get a second straight start in the Kings’ crease. Budaj stopped 17 of 20 shots in the Kings’ win on Thursday and he has a solid matchup tonight vs. the Canucks. Vancouver may be unbeaten, but they’ve only scored nine goals in four games.

Peter Budaj
The Devils have sent Miles Wood to Albany (AHL).

Wood, 21, had no points in two games with the Devils to start the season and with Sergey Kalinin returning to the lineup on Saturday, Wood has been sent to Albany. He had 35 points (10G / 25A) in 37 games with Boston College last year and should have no trouble picking up points in the AHL.

The Devils has activated Sergey Kalinin (undisclosed) from IR; will play Saturday.

Kalinin has missed the first four games of the season with an undisclosed injury, but will make his season debut tonight vs. the Wild. With Kalinin healthy, the Devils have reassigned Miles Wood to Albany (AHL).

Sergey Kalinin
Leddy (upper-body) practiced on Saturday; could return to the lineup on Sunday.

Leddy missed Friday’s game with an upper-body injury, but he got through Saturday’s practice without a hitch and appears good-to-go for Sunday’s game. He would re-claim his spot from Ryan Pulock, who is now out for at least one month with a broken foot.

Nick Leddy
Zatkoff left the morning skate with a lower-body injury and is questionable for Saturday’s game.

The Kings are already without Jonathan Quick and then Zatkoff had to be helped off of the ice with a lower-body injury this afternoon. Look for Peter Budaj to start for the Kings and for Jack Campbell to be recalled to serve as his back if Zatkoff can’t dress.

Jeff Zatkoff
Price will start Saturday in Boston.

Price stopped 27 of 29 shots in the Canadiens’ win over the Coyotes on Thursday. It was a very Price-like debut for the Habs’ netminder, who starts again tonight in Boston. Price is an outstanding 22-8-3 with a 2.37 GAA and .923 SV% vs. the Bruins in his career. He is a must-start regardless of matchup, but he seems to have the Bruins' number.

Carey Price
Johnson will start Saturday vs. the Blues.

Johnson allowed three goals on 21 shots in the Flames’ win over the Sabres on Tuesday. Brian Elliott got the nod and the loss on Thursday, so it will be Johnson who faces Elliott’s former team tonight. St. Louis has lost each of their first two games on their Western Canadian road trip, but they remain a tough matchup for Johnson.

Chad Johnson
Fleury was the first goalie off of the ice at the Penguins' morning skate.

Fleury allowed two goals on 34 shots in the Penguins’ win over the Sharks on Thursday. It was a nice bounce-back game for Fleury, who had lost each of his last two starts. He sits at 3-1-1 with a 2.76 GAA and .920 SV% in the early-going and tonight he will make his sixth consecutive start. Fleury will face a Nashville team that is dealing with food poisoning and who played last night.

Marc-Andre Fleury
Andersen was in the starter's crease this morning; likely Maple Leafs starer.

Andersen allowed five goals on 34 shots in the Maple Leafs’ OT loss in Winnipeg on Wednesday. The Leafs were unable to hold onto a 4-0 lead and Andersen ended up losing his second game in blue and white. He has struggled to the tune of a 3.60 GAA and .876 SV% so far this season and will be in tough again tonight in Chicago.

Frederik Andersen
Talbot will start the Heritage Classic on Sunday.

Talbot stopped 34 of 35 shots in the Oilers win over the Blues on Thursday. Talbot has won four of his first five starts while posting a 3.32 GAA and .904 SV% to start the season and he starts in today’s outdoor game in Winnipeg. Talbot was 2-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and .976 SV% in two starts against the Jets last year.

Cam Talbot
Spurgeon (upper-body) missed Friday’s practice and is questionable for Saturday’s game.

Spurgeon was hurt in Thursday’s game vs. the Maple Leafs and then missed yesterday’s practice, which puts his status for tonight’s game in jeopardy. If Spurgeon can’t play, look for Mathew Dumba to get back into the lineup.
