Mason (lower-body) returned to the ice on Wednesday.

Mason was on the ice before Flyers practice with goalie coach Jeff Reese this morning. Mason is one and half weeks into a 2-3 week timetable, so this is just about the time you would expect him to return to the ice. Expect him to skate alone for a few days before returning to full practice.

The Jets have recalled Carl Klingberg from St. John’s (AHL).

Klingberg, 24, has 15 goals and 15 assists (30 points) in 51 games with St. John’s this season. He has just one goal in his last 10 games, but his recall likely means that either Drew Stafford or Mathieu Perreault will go on IR and Klingberg can be expected to play on Thursday in Washington.

Varlamov will almost certainly face the Kings on Wednesday.

Varlamov stopped four of five shots through two periods in Tuesday’s 5-2 win over the Coyotes. He was pulled in favour of Reto Berra for the third period after he didn’t face a single shot in the second period. It was a much needed break for Varlamov, who is expected to be back in goal vs. the visiting Kings. Since the All Star break, Varly has gone 3-2-0 with a 1.75 GAA and .927 SV% at home.

Tokarski gets the nod on Wednesday in Ottawa.

Tokarski allowed four goals on 38 shots in the Canadiens 4-3 OT loss to the Oilers last Thursday. Tokarski has lost three of his last four starts, while posting a 3.53 GAA and .896 SV%. Tonight he has a great matchup vs. the Senators without their top-2 goalies—he will go head-to-head with Andrew Hammond.

Grabner (upper-body) has been activated from IR and will play Tuesday.

Grabner missed the last five games with an upper-body injury, but replaces the injured Casey Cizikas tonight in Carolina. Grabner has had an injury ravaged season, but has posted seven points (5G / 2A) in the 18 games that he has played.

Michael Grabner
Emery gets the nod vs. the Blue Jackets.

Emery allowed one goal on 22 shots in the Flyers win in Buffalo on Sunday. Emery has gone 2-0-2 with a 2.24 GAA and .922 SV% in February. Tonight he will get another crack at the Blue Jackets, who he suffered a 4-3 OT loss against last Friday.

Michal Neuvirth
Vatanen (lower-body) will miss 4-6 weeks.

Vatanen was having an incredible season, recording 34 points (12G / 22A) in 57 games, but he will now be out until at least the middle of March. This is a tough break for the Ducks, but it will give Cam Fowler, Hampus Lindholm and Francois Beauchemin more of the offensive burden.
