The Coyotes have assigned forward Brendan Shinnimin to Portland (AHL).

Shinnimin has recorded one assist and eight penalty minutes (PIM) in 11 games with the Coyotes this season. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward has also registered nine goals and 16 assists (25 points) with 45 PIM in 40 games with the Pirates.

Jared Cowen will be a healthy scratch on Saturday.

Cowen has posted a minus-6 in the last five games and played a season-low 12:30 on Thursday. With Cowen out, either Patrick Wiercioch or Chris Philipps will get back into the lineup.

Hutchinson starts Saturday in Detroit.

Hutchinson saved 29 of 30 shots in the Jets 2-1 overtime win over the Wild on Tuesday. He was given Thursday off, but the goalie rotation will continue as he goes tonight vs. the Red Wings. He has never faced the Red Wings, but enters play with 1-1-1 record, 2.41 GAA and .907 SV% in February.

Dubnyk starts Saturday vs. the Hurricanes.

Dubnyk allowed one goal on 27 shots in the Wild’s win over the Panthers on Thursday. Duubnyk is 9-1-1 with a 1.48 GAA and .943 SV% in 12 starts with Minnesota. He has been sensational and draws a great matchup tonight with the Hurricanes in town—Dubnyk is 5-1-0 with a 1.34 GAA, .944 SV% and two shutouts in six starts at Xcel Energy Center.

The Stars have recalled Brett Ritchie from Texas (AHL).

Ritchie, 21, has three goals and one assist in 10 games with the Stars this season. In 24 games with Texas he has 11 goals and seven assists (18 points) in 24 games. With Patrick Eaves and Tyler Seguin on IR, he will likely be in the lineup tonight.

The Stars have recalled Travis Morin from Texas (AHL).

Morin, 31, has no points in five games with the Stars this season. In 39 games, he has registered 40 points (15G / 25A) in 39 games with Texas. He will likely be in the lineup tonight with Tyler Seguin and Patrick Eaves on IR.

Price gets the nod vs. the Maple Leafs.

Price made 23 saves on 24 shots in the Canadiens 2-1 win over the Flyers on Tuesday. He was given the night off on Thursday, but will be back in goal tonight vs. the struggling Leafs. Price has won three in a row, while posting a 1.31 GAA and .951 SV%. He made 24 saves in a 4-3 win in his first start vs. Toronto.

Halak will be in goal for the Islanders.

Halak allowed two goals on 34 shots in the Islanders win over the Maple Leafs on Thursday. He has won each of his last four starts with a 1.96 GAA and .918 SV%. He will make his first start of the season vs. the Blue Jackets—Halak has gone 17-5-0 with a 2.41 GAA and .914 SV% at home.

Bernier will start Saturday vs. the Canadiens.

Bernier allowed three goals on 41 shots in the Maple Leafs 3-2 loss to the Islanders on Thursday night. He has gone 0-7-1 with a 2.92 GAA and .907 SV% in his last eight starts and has not registered a win since January 9th. He allowed four goals on 32 shots in a 4- 3 loss in his only start vs. the Habs.

Hemsky left Friday’s game with a lower-body injury and did not return.

Hemsky suffered a lower-body injury in the first period which forced him to miss the remainder of the game. Head coach Lindy Ruff said Hemsky will “miss some time”, which means that the Stars will need to recall a forward from Texas (AHL).

Eaves left Friday’s game with a head injury and did not return.

Eaves was hit in the head by a shot from teammate John Klingberg. He was down the ice for a few minutes before being helped to the locker room. Eaves was then taken to the hospital for x-rays. Coach Lindy Ruff said he should know more on Saturday but it looks like Eaves is going to “miss some time.”

Seguin is going to “miss some time” with a lower-body injury.

Seguin left Friday’s game with a lower-body injury with just seven minutes left in the game. He was hit around the knees by Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov and had to be helped off of the ice. Seguin will be re-evaluated on Saturday and the Stars should release more information after that.

Talbot will make his sixth straight start on Saturday.

Talbot allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Rangers win in Colorado on Thursday. After losing two in a row, he has won back-to-back despite allowing seven goals on 63 shots (.889 SV%). He has a nice matchup tonight in Arizona—the Coyotes are on the tail-end of a back-to-back and have lost four of five.
