Tavares (illness) returned to practice in full on Tuesday.

Tavares did not play on Saturday against the Penguins due to an illness but was back at practice as a full participant on Tuesday. He has one point (0G / 1A) in two games so far this season. The Maple Leafs return to action on Wednedsay night against the Los Angeles Kings.

John Tavares
Nylander (illness) missed practice on Tuesday.

Nylander was absent from practice on Tuesday due to an illness. Max Pacioretty was inserted into Toronto's top powerplay unit in his absence. The Maples don't return to action until Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Kings, so it's unclear if Nylander will be ready to return to the lineup.

William Nylander
Binnington will start on Tuesday vs. Minnesota.

Binnington has played two of three games for the Blues thus far and will return to the crease for Tuesday's matchup against the Minnesota Wild. The 31-year-old Binnington had difficulty in his previous outing, allowing four goals on 28 shots (.857 SVV%) in a 4-3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. That said, Binnington is sporting a 1-1-0 record early in the season and his Blues are slight -109 home favourites against the Wild.

Jordan Binnington
Vrana is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday vs. Vegas.

Sonny Milano will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday, allowing Vrana to make his season debut. Vrana is in his second stint with the Washington Capitals, the team that drafted him 13th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Now 28 years old, Vrana has struggled to establish himself as an everyday NHLer, despite scoring a respectable 41 points (26G / 15A) in his past 72 games across the last three seasons.

Jakub Vrana
Milano is expected to be a healthy scratch on Tuesday vs. Vegas.

Milano suffered a -3 plus/minus in only 5:52 time-on-ice in Washington's season-opening 5-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils and will serve as a healthy scratch on Tuesday against the Vegas Golden Knights. Jakub Vrana will draw into the lineup for his season debut in favor of Milano.

Sonny Milano
Vasilevskiy will start on Tuesday vs. Vancouver.

Tampa Bay has only played one game so far this season due to a postponed contest last week and will return to Vasilevskiy, their game-one starter, on Tuesday against the Vancouver Canucks. Vasilevskiy is coming off the worst season of his career, posting a 2.90 GAA and .900 SV% in 52 appearances in 2023-24 (30-20-2), but was stellar in his first contest this season, saving 20 of 21 shots (.952 SV%) in a 4-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Lightning enter Tuesday's action against the Canucks as -129 home favorites.

Andrei Vasilevskiy
Aston-Reese (upper-body) is expected to play on Tuesday vs. Florida.

Aston-Reese left Columbus' game vs. Colorado on Saturday after one shift and just 0:34 TOI due to an upper-body injury but is expected to return on Tuesday vs. Florida. The 29-year-old was claimed off of waivers a week ago from Vegas and is expected to be an everyday player in Columbus' lineup.

Zach Aston-Reese
Johnson will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday vs. Florida.

Johnson will serve as a healthy scratch on Tuesday and be replaced in the lineup by Jordan Harris. Johnson, in his 19th NHL season, played the first two games for the Blue Jackets, his second stint with the team, averaging 14:43 time-on-ice while recording one block and two hits.

Jack Johnson
Merzlikins will start on Tuesday vs. Florida.

The Blue Jackets have alternated netminder in their first two games but will turn back to Merzlikins between the pipes on Tuesday against the Florida Panthers. In his previous two seasons combined, Merzlikins has a horrid 3.77 GAA and .889 SV% in 71 appearances (20-35-10). That said, he played reasonably in his first outing this season, saving 23 of 26 shots (.885 SV%) in a 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild. Columbus enters action on Tuesday as a +134 home underdog.

Elvis Merzlikins
Kochetkov is in the starter's crease at Carolina's morning skate.

In their first game of the season, the Hurricanes were defeated 4-1 by the Tampa Bay Lightning with Frederik Andersen in net. The Hurricanes will likely turn to Kochetkov for game two on Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils. The 25-year-old Kochetkov has seen his NHL workload increase in his first three seasons, highlighted by a stellar 2.33 GAA and .911 SV% in 42 appearances last season (23-13-4). The Hurricanes enter the action on Tuesday as -161 home favorites against a Devils club that defeated Utah HC yesterday afternoon.

Pyotr Kochetkov
Petrovic has been recalled from Texas (AHL).

Petrovic has only played one regular season NHL game in the last five years but had an impact in seven playoff games with Dallas this past postseason. His call-up to Dallas could coincide with the injury of Matt Dumba (lower body). Dumba did not play on Sunday and was replaced in the lineup by Brendan Smith.

Alex Petrovic
Shesterkin will start against the Red Wings on Monday.

The Rangers will turn to Shesterkin for the third straight game to start the season when they face the Detroit Red Wings on Monday. Shesterkin was sensational in the Rangers' season opener, saving all 31 shots he faced in a 6-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins before a forgettable performance in his follow-up contest, allowing six goals on 26 shots (.769 SV%) in 6-5 overtime loss to the Utah Hockey Club. The Rangers enter action on Monday as sizeable -210 home favorites against the Red Wings.

Igor Shesterkin
Ullmark has a strain and is without a timetable to return but is not expected to be out long.

Ullmark did not dress in Ottawa's high-scoring 8-7 victory over Los Angeles on Monday due to a strain and is considered day-to-day as he recovers. The 31-year-old net-minder just signed a four-year, $33 million contract extension with Ottawa last Wednesday. Head Coach Travis Green said Ullmark has a possibility to be ready for the Senators' next contest on Thursday.

Linus Ullmark
Greig (upper-body) is out week-to-week.

Ottawa is expected to be without its 22-year-old centre for "a week or two" as he recovers from an upper-body injury. Grieg is in his third NHL campaign and had yet to pick up a point in his first two appearances for the Senators' before his injury. Adam Guadette replaced him in Ottawa's lineup on Monday.

Ridly Greig
Durzi (upper-body) left Monday's game vs. New Jersey and will not return.

Durzi played only 9:09 time-on-ice before exiting Monday's game against the New Jersey Devils with an upper-body injury. The 26-year-old defenseman was off to a strong start to the season, with two points (0G / 2A), 11 blocks, and seven penalty minutes in three games.
