One of the notable rookies in New England is finally ready to make her PWHL debut.

On Tuesday, the Boston Fleet announced the team has activated defender Hadley Hartmetz from long-term injured reserve. The rookie will be making her debut on Tuesday night when the Fleet host the league-leading Montreal Victoire.

Hartmetz was originally taken by Boston in the seventh round, 40th overall, of the 2024 PWHL Draft. She was eventually signed to a one-year contract this past November, but was immediately placed on LTIR as she was still recovering from a lower-body injury that she suffered in last year’s NCAA Championship when her Ohio State Buckeyes beat the Wisconsin Badgers.

Wth the Fleet having a full roster, Hartmetz is joining the team on a 10-day contract. That means the 23-year-old will be eligible to play in Boston’s next two games, including a clash with the Toronto Sceptres on March 26. Per the PWHL’s rules on 10-day contracts, Hartmetz could sign one more short-term deal before the end of the regular season, as well as the ability to play in one round of the playoffs.

Hartmetz comes into the PWHL after a decorated career in the collegiate ranks. She played five years of NCAA hockey, two with the Boston College Eagles before spending three years in Columbus. With the Buckeyes, she won two national championships, totaling 18 goals and 41 assists for 59 points in 118 games.

Along with a solid college career, the Phoenixville, Pennsylvania native has taken home hardware on the international stage, winning gold with Team USA at the 2018 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship, grabbing the silver the following year.

“Hadley is an exciting add to our d-core,” Fleet General Manager Danielle Marmer said in a statement when the team first signed Hartmetz. “She fits nicely into our physical, hard-defending style while also providing transportability and offensive involvement. She brings a competitiveness and work ethic that will push her teammates and make us better.”

The Fleet (8-5-4-6) sit second in the PWHL, six points behind the Victoire.
