A promising youngster has signed a new deal.

On Wednesday, the Minnesota Frost announced that the team has signed forward Dominique Petrie to a two-year contract that will carry through the 2026-27 season.

Petrie is coming off a solid rookie season in the Twin Cities, showing great potential on a team that won a second straight Walter Cup, defeating the Ottawa Charge in four games.

“I am super thrilled and excited to be re-signing with the Minnesota Frost,” Petrie said in a release. “I had a great first year and the organization has built something special that I am excited to keep growing as a player and am pumped to get back on the ice.”

Petrie was taken by the Frost in the fifth round, 27th overall, of the 2024 PWHL Draft. She came to a team that was hot off winning the league’s inaugural championship and was searching for more. She certainly had a hot start to her young career, scoring goals in each of her first three games. That ended up being the only times Petrie found the back of the net during the 2024-25 campaign.

An injury forced the former Clarkson star to miss nearly two months of the regular season, but she responded to finish the campaign with seven assists and 10 points, finishing third among Minnesota rookies in scoring. Petrie appeared in seven of the team’s eight playoff games, picking up an assist in game two of the semifinals against the Toronto Sceptres.

Prior to turning pro, Petrie experienced success on the international stage, winning two gold medals at the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship with the United States, taking home a silver in 2019 as well.

Among new faces that have already signed their first pro contracts, including draft picks Kendall Cooper, Abby Hustler and Anna Segedi, Petrie is the seventh member of the Frost to re-sign with the team this offseason.

With Petrie re-signing with Minnesota, the team has 19 of a possible 23 players signed to standard contracts for the 2025-26 season.
