Victoire signs Jade Downie-Landry to one-year contract

A Quebec native is heading home.
On Friday, the Montreal Victoire announced that the team has signed forward Jade Downie-Landry to a one-year contract for the 2025-26 season.
Downie-Landry, who hails from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, spent the first two seasons in the PWHL with the New York Sirens, the team that drafted her in the ninth round of the league’s inaugural draft in 2023. She admits it’s a huge thrill to have the chance to play in the city she calls home once again.
“It’s a dream come true to represent my hometown,” Downie-Landry said in a release. “There’s nothing more special than putting on a Victoire jersey and playing for a city and fans that mean so much to me.”
Prior to the PWHL, JDL had only ever played for teams from around her hometown. She played five seasons with McGill University, being named to the USports All-Rookie Team in 2017, as well as the USports Second All-Star Team two years later. She then broke into the professional ranks in 2022-23, playing for Force de Montreal of the PHF, where she was named an All-Star in the league’s final season.
Downie-Landry was expected to bring a lot of secondary scoring to the team in New York, but it never materialized. After posting a respectable 13 points in the league’s first season, her ice time diminished under head coach Greg Fargo, leading to a lack of production. In 30 games, the 29-year-old scored just four goals and two assists for six points.
The Sirens finished last in each of their two seasons so far.
In 54 career games with New York, JDL posted 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points.
Back home, Downie-Landry will look to give some offensive punch to a bottom six that has struggled to produce in Montreal. She is one of a few newcomers that general manager Danièle Sauvageau has signed this week, including Shiann Darkangelo and Hayley Scamurra.
