Victoire signs Shiann Darkangelo to two-year contract

Another important player is out of the nation’s capital.
On Tuesday, the Montreal Victoire announced that they have signed forward Shiann Darkangelo to a two-year contract, carrying through the 2026-27 season.
“I am thrilled to be joining Montréal and grateful for the opportunity to represent such a passionate city and fan base,” Darkangelo said in a release. “I’m looking forward to being part of a great group of teammates, and can’t wait for the season to start.”
It’s another huge blow for the Ottawa Charge, as they have seen a mass exodus of players over the past week, losing the likes of Emerance Maschmeyer, Aneta Tejralová and Ashton Bell during the expansion process, while their leading scorer, Tereza Vanisvoa, also signed with PWHL Vancouver on Monday.
Darkangelo entered the PWHL after a fruitful career in the Premier Hockey Federation, where she won Isobel Cups with the Buffalo Beauts and Toronto Six. She took that experience to Ottawa, the team that acquired via trade early in the inaugural season from Boston.
While the Brighton, Michigan native didn’t light up the scoreboard in her first season, posting just one assist in 24 games, she exploded in year two on a much-improved Charge team that punched its ticket to the postseason for the first time. Darkangelo scored eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in 29 games, finishing third on the team in goals and points.
The 31-year-old also scored a goal in the playoffs, as the Charge eliminated the top-seeded Victoire in the semifinals, ultimately losing to the Minnesota Frost in the final in four games.
In 53 career appearances, Darkangelo has scored eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points.
Though Montreal lost quite a bit from the expansion process, general manager Danièle Sauvageau has done a solid job in trying to build the roster back up, re-signing defender Kati Tabin as well as signing former Boston Fleet blueliner Jessica DiGirolamo.
