Osborne was taken by New York in the fifth round, 28th overall, of the 2024 PWHL Draft.
“We’re thrilled to confirm our long-term agreement with Kayle as she joins an excellent goaltending duo,” general manager Pascal Daoust said in a release. “Bringing quality and stability to the team and our fans for the coming seasons at this key position. While playing a technical game, Kayle is especially explosive and powerful, making her a goaltender who consistently battles and competes for pucks, even the ones that seem impossible to stop.”
The Ottawa native comes to the team after an outstanding career at Colgate University. Osborne played the majority of games in her four years as a Raider, helping the team advance to the NCAA Tournament, and win the ECAC Championship, every season with the program in Hamilton, New York.
Her senior campaign in 2023-24 was her best. Osborne posted a 20-4-1 record, with a 1.28 goals-against average and .941 save percentage, along with six shutouts. The former Ottawa Lady Senator’s play helped the Raiders reach the Women’s Frozen Four for just the second time in program history.
In 92 collegiate appearances, Osborne had a career record of 61-20-4 with a 1.64 GAA, a .927 SV% and 13 shutouts.
“I am extremely excited to be spending the next three years in New York,” Osborne said. “The fans have been so welcoming, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play in front of them. I am looking forward to developing and growing my game alongside the staff in New York, as well as learning from two already amazing goaltenders.”
The 22-year-old also has experience representing her country. Osborne played in two games for Canada at the 2020 IIHF Women’s Under-18 World Championship, as the team went on to take home the silver medal.
With the signing, New York now has three goaltenders under contract for next season, as Osborne joins PWHL Goaltender of the Year finalist Corinne Schroeder, and Abbey Levy. Schroeder and Osborne are both signed through the 2025-26 season. Osborne is also the third draft pick to sign with NY, as Maja Nylén Persson and Noora Tulus have also signed on for the next two years.
In total, New York has a 16 of a possible 23 SPAs signed for next season.
