It was a much-needed performance for the veteran netminder, who has played much worse than Ilya Samsonov over the last month and a half. He has gone 1-1-0 while stopping 54 of the 58 shots that he has faced in two games vs. the Flyers this season.
Holtby allowed five goals on 24 shots in the Capitals loss to the Predators last Wednesday. Holtby has gone 1-3-0 with a 3.89 GAA and .858 SV% in his last five, so his 2020 struggles continue. Tonight he'll face a Kings team with struggles of their own, as they come into Tuesday having lost six of their last seven games (1-5-1) while scoring just 1.86 goals per game.
