Cody Eakin News
Eakin will miss Friday's game vs. the Bruins and Saturday's game in New Jersey. Look for Eakin to return either Monday vs. the Lightning or Thursday in Anaheim.
Eakin is dealing with a minor injury, so he'll come out of the lineup on Thursday. With Eakin sidelined, Brett Murray will make his NHL debut on the Sabres' fourth line.
Eakin was acquired from the Golden Knights on Friday and is expected to play Sunday in Buffalo. Head coach Paul Maurice said he will play centre but did not disclose which line he will play on. Eakin has scored four goals with six assists (10 points) in 41 games this season.
Eakin has been out since November 29th but will draw back into the Golden Knights lineup tonight vs. the Penguins. Eakin, who will likely play on the fourth line in his return, has three goals and four assists (seven points) in 24 games this year.
Eakin was hurt in last Friday's game vs. the Coyotes on a hit from forward Brad Richardson and did not return. Head coach Gerard Gallant told reporters that Eakin will miss at least a couple of weeks and Nicolas Roy was called-up from Chicago (AHL) and will take Eakin's place in the lineup. Cody Glass will shift back to centre on the third line to fill the hole left by Eakin's absence.
Eakin has missed the first three games of the season with an undisclosed injury but returned to practice in a non-contact jersey on Wednesday. This is a step in the right direction for Eakin, who will likely be cleared for contact in the coming days.
Head coach Gerard Gallant said that Eakin is “doing well” but probably won’t play Tuesday vs. the Bruins. Vegas plays four games next week, so monitor Eakin’s status heading towards Thursday’s game in Arizona and into their back-to-back over the weekend.
Eakin was left off of IR on Tuesday but still won’t be available for Wednesday’s season opener vs. the Sharks. The early-season injury has opened the door for Cody Glass to centre the Golden Knights second line between Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone. Eakin remains day-to-day.
Eakin was hurt in Friday’s preseason game and is danger of missing the start of the regular season. While he is only day-to-day, Eakin’s injury opens the door for Cody Glass to start the season as the Golden Knights’ No.3 centre.
Eakin has missed the first three games of the season but will replace Paul Stastny (lower-body) in the lineup tonight vs. the Capitals. Eakin had 11 goals and 16 assists (27 points) in 80 games for Vegas a season ago. He is expected to skate with Ryan Carpenter and Oscar Lindberg tonight.
Eakin landed on injured reserve to open the season but was back on the ice in a regular jersey for Tuesday’s practice. This is the next step in Eakin’s return to the Golden Knights lineup, but he remains questionable for Wednesday and Thursday’s back-to-back.
Eakin has missed the last week of training camp with a lower-body injury and has been moved to injured reserve to create an open roster spot for a healthy skater. With Eakin expected to miss the start of the season, Ryan Carpenter or Oscar Lindberg will centre the Golden Knights’ third line.
Eakin was suspended for four games for his hit on Henrik Lundqvist, but is set to return to the lineup tonight. Eakin has had a tough season, collecting just a single assist in 14 games. Jason Dickinson was sent back to Texas (AHL) to make room for Eakin.
Eakin will miss three games before the Christmas break and the first game after the break for his hit on Lundqvist on Thursday. Eakin is eligible to return to the lineup on December 29th vs. the Avalanche.
