Smith is one of 16 regulars who will not be in the Bruins lineup on Tuesday. The Bruins will need to recall multiple players from their taxi squad/AHL to fill out their lineup. Karson Kuhlman, who was scratched last night, should draw in to replace Smith.
Smith was absent from the Bruins' morning skate and will be a game-time decision on Thursday. If Smith can't play, look for Jake DeBrusk to draw into the lineup and replace him on the second line with David Krejci and Taylor Hall.
Smith missed the season opener with a lower-body injury but head coach Bruce Cassidy expects to have him on Saturday afternoon. Smith had 18 goals and 13 assists (31 points) in 69 games with Nashville last season.
Smith was nicked up towards the end of the Bruins' training camp and has been listed as a game-time decision for Game 1 of the 2021 season. Trent Frederic is expected to replace Smith if he can't play.
Smith has provided great secondary scoring throughout his career in Nashville and will fill a similar third-line role in Boston. Smith was on-pace for 21 goals before the 2020 season was cut short. It would have been sixth time in seven years that Smith broke the 20-goal barrier. He has a solid floor but limited upside. Expect him to finish 2021 around 20 goals and 20 assists.
Smith was a late-scratch on Tuesday and will not be available to play in Thursday’s game against the Kings. This move allows the Predators to recall Tyler Gaudet from Milwaukee, which suggests that Viktor Arvidsson could be in danger of missing tonight’s game as well.
Smith has missed the last two games with what was being called rest, but he was back on the ice for the morning skate on Tuesday and is expected to play vs. Dallas. Smith has had a nice season, picking up 20 goals and 19 assists (39 points) in 62 games.
Smith missed Saturday’s game in Carolina, but was back on the ice this morning and appears set to play vs. the Coyotes. Smith has had a very difficult season, collecting just 18 points (9G / 9A) across 68 games.
Smith has just one goal in his last 24 games and is expected to be replaced by Mike Ribeiro in the lineup on Tuesday. Smith skated as an extra this morning and stayed on the ice with the scratches, so expect him to sit.
Smith missed Saturday’s game vs. the Penguins because of food poisoning, but he was back on the ice for practice this afternoon and it looks like he will be available for Wednesday’s game in Anaheim.
Smith has missed the last two games with flu-like symptoms, but could be back in the lineup tonight. He has six goals and nine assists (15 points) in 29 games.
With Mike Fisher dealing with a hand injury the Preds placed Scott Hannan on IR and will recall Smith.
