DeKeyser suffered some type of separation to his left shoulder less than four minutes into Tuesday’s 2-0 loss to Nashville when he was checked into the boards by Patric Hornqvist. "He’s going to go for tests (Wednesday),’’ GM Ken Holland said. “(Team doctors) looked at it and said he needs further assessment. He’s out at least 1-2 weeks, depending on what they see. It’s some type of separation, but we don’t know the severity.’’ DeKeyser had eight points (two goals, six assists) in his past 10 games before Tuesday, after picking up just one point in his first 11 games. Overall, he has nine points and a plus-5 rating, while averaging 21:46 in ice time.

DeKeyser has acclimated himself well in his first full NHL season. He is averaging 21:47 TOI but has seen a recent bump in minutes because of the injury to Jonathan Ericsson and his overall strong play. “I feel good,'' DeKeyser said. “I kind of twisted it a little bit in the last game but it's kind of precautionary, a little sore after that. Make sure it's 100 percent before I get out there again.'' He might skate Saturday morning but will not play in the preseason finale at Toronto later that night.
DeKeyser was injured midway through the third period of the Red Wings' 5-4 overtime win over the Anaheim Ducks Thursday in Game 2 of their Western Conference quarterfinal playoff series. Ian White, Brian Lashoff, or Carlo Colaiacovo will move into DeKeyser's spot in the lineup.
DeKeyser will be paired with Ian White at even strength and Quincey on the penalty kill. He has two goals and 13 assists in 35 games in his junior year at Western Michigan University.
No word on who drops out of the lineup for Detroit but speculation is that Smith, Colaiacovo, or Lashoff would sit.
DeKeyser has not made his NHL debut yet. He could play tomorrow vs. the Avalanche. He could become fantasy relevant for the end of the season if he produces out of the gate.
DeKeyser will most likely be in the lineup on Thursday in Phoenix if he does not play tomorrow.

The highly sought after 6-foot-3-inch two-way defenseman DeKeyser has decided to stay in Michigan and sign with the Red Wings.
