Malgin was acquired for Dryden Hunt on Monday and will draw into the Avalanche lineup Wednesday for his Colorado debut as they take on the Montreal Canadiens. The 25-year-old had two goals, two assists, 46 SOG and a -1 plus/minus in 23 games while mostly playing bottom-six minutes with the Maple Leafs.

Malgin has been a healthy scratch for the Maple Leafs' previous three contest but will draw back into the lineup Thursday for Wayne Simmonds. The 25-year-old has two goals, two assists, a +1 plus/minus and 37 SOG across 18 games played this season.

Malgin was a fourth-round pick of the Panthers in 2015 and was with the organization from 2017 to February of 2020 when he was dealt to Toronto. Upon his arrival in Ontario's Capital, Malgin had no points in eight games for the Maple Leafs. He still did enough to earn a one-year extension but given Toronto's depth, he could start 2021 in the AHL.

Malgin has been a healthy scratch for the last four games but will play Sunday in Pittsburgh. It's unclear who Malgin will replace but it will likely be Dominic Toninato. He comes in with three goals and six assists (nine points) in 29 games this season.

Malgin has played in 25 of the Panthers' 27 games this season but will be replaced by Aleksi Saarela on Saturday night. Malgin has been held pointless in his last 13 games.

Malgin had two shots in 10:59 TOI in the season opener but Joel Quenneville will pull him from Saturday’s lineup. Malgin will be replaced by Jayce Hawryluk.

Malgin spent the last two seasons splitting time between the AHL and NHL. This past season, Malgin had seven goals and nine assists (16 points) in 50 games with Florida and 14 points (4G / 10A) in 13 games with Springfield. With the Panthers adding Brett Connolly and Owen Tippett set to make the roster this fall, Malgin will be limited to a bottom-6 role in 2020.

Malgin was in the lineup for the last six games but will be replaced by Michael Haley in the lineup on Saturday.
