Seattle added to its defensive depth on Wednesday by adding six-year veteran Josh Mahura on a one-year, $775,000 contract. The 26-year-old was only able to appear in 30 games for the Stanley Cup-winning Florida Panthers in 2023-24 and had no goals, nine assists, 20 PIMs and a -2 plus/minus.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson will not pay on Tuesday, allowing Mahura to re-enter the lineup. Mahura has nine-point (0G / 9A), 37 hits, and 26 blocks in 29 games this season.

Mahura played the last three games for the Panthers, recording one assist, but will be a healthy scratch on Thursday. Oliver Ekman-Larsson will draw into the lineup as his replacement on the blue line.

With Aaron Ekblad expected to miss most of the remainder of the regular season, Mahura will draw into the lineup on Thursday against the Ottawa Senators. Mahura has two points (0G / 2A) in his last four games but hasn't played since March 24th.

Mahura has not played since February 17th but is expected to draw back into the lineup on Tuesday as Aaron Ekblad is dealing with a lower-body injury. The 25-year-old Mahura has six points (0G / 6A), 23 hits, and 14 blocks in 20 games this season.

Mahura will exit the lineup on Tuesday, allowing Aaron Ekblad to draw back in. Mahura played only his second game in the last month on Sunday, tallying an assist, two shots, and two hits in 15:56 time-on-ice.

Mahura will make his first appearance since January 15th as he fills in for Gustav Forsling (undisclosed). Mahura has no goals and five assists in 18 games this season.

Mahura will exit the lineup and serve as a healthy scratch to allow Dmitry Kulikov to draw back into the lineup after a one-game absence from an undisclosed injury. Monday's game against the Anaheim Ducks was Mahura's first action in a month. He played 12:29 time-on-ice, recorded two hits, and a -2 plus/minus rating.

Mahura has not played since November 16th and will have to wait a little longer, despite being cleared from a lower-body injury, as he will not return to the lineup on Tuesday. Mahura was a regular in the lineup before Brandon Montour and Aaron Ekblad returned from injuries and will likely have a tough time drawing back in as long as their defensive core is healthy.

Mahura left the Panthers' game Thursday vs. Los Angeles after just six shifts and 5:04 TOI due to a lower-body and has been placed on the inured reserve Friday. The 25-year-old stay-at-home defensemen is in his second full season with the cats and has five assists, 15 SOG, eight PIMs and a -2 plus/minus through 16 games prior to his injury.

Mahura has four goals, seven assists, 59 SOG, 20 PIMs and a +13 plus/minus through 54 games in his first season in Florida and has earned himself a one-year contract extension.

Mahura spent the entire 2022 campaign with the Ducks, scoring three goals with four assists (seven points) in 38 games. The 24-year-old blueliner has a chance to be an immediate everyday blueliner with the Panthers, as he'll battle Matt Kiersted for playing time, most likely on the third pair with Radko Gudas.

Mahura has been a healthy scratch for three of the last four games but will replace Simon Benoit in the lineup on Thursday. Mahura has one goal and two assists in his last 10 games.
