Justin Peters News

The Stars have acquired Justin Peters and Justin Hache from the Coyotes for Brendan Ranford and Branden Troock.

Peters has gone 5-6-0 with a 4.17 GAA and .868 SV% in 12 games with Tucson this season and with Adin Hill played great and the Stars in need of goaltending depth, Peters will report to Texas (AHL).

Peters will make his first start of 2016-17 on Tuesday.

Peters stopped 23 of 24 shots after replacing Louis Domingue in the Coyotes loss in Montreal last Thursday. With Domingue struggling and Mike Smith still sidelined, Peters will make his first start of the season. The 30-year-old has made 81 career NHL appearances and has totalled 25 wins with a 3.07 GAA and .901 SV% over six seasons. However, Peters draws a favourable matchup tonight.

The Coyotes signed Justin Peters to a one-year, two-way contract.

Peters appeared in a career-high 21 games with the Hurricanes in 2013-14, but failed to make it to the NHL last season. He played the entire year at Hershey (AHL), where he was 17-8-7 with a 3.04 GAA and .896 SV%. Look for him to start this year with Springfield.

Justin Peters
Peters is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Peters saw his first action since February 15th last night when he came in to relieve Braden Holtby in the Capitals 4-2 loss to the Stars. He stopped all nine shots that he face, but he evidently suffered a lower-body injury in the process. Look for Holtby to start on Sunday.

Justin Peters
Peterst starts tonight in Anaheim.

Peters gave up four goals on 40 shots in the Capitals loss to St. Louis on February 1st. He has not had a lot of playing time this season, going 2-5-1 with a 3.58 GAA and .870 SV% in the first four and a half months of the season. Tonight he will get thrown into the fire with a brutal matchup in Anaheim.

Justin Peters
Peters will return to the Capitals net on Saturday in Dallas.

Peters has not started an NHL game since November 29th. In two games with Hershey (AHL) last week he went 1-1-0 with a 1.51 GAA and .948 SV% during the conditioning stint. With the Capitals he is 2-31 with a 3.29 GAA and. 872 SV%, so be careful with his matchup vs. the NHL’s sixth best offence.

He will start two games for Hershey (AHL) this weekend before returning to the team next week. That means Holtby will start his 24th straight on Saturday.

Peters starts vs. the Hurricanes.

Peters gave up six goals on 30 shots in the Hurricanes loss to the Coyotes last Sunday. With Braden Holtby getting the call last night vs. the Blackhawks, Peters will be in goal tonight vs. his former team. The Hurricanes are on a four-game winning streak, but Peters could make for a nice spot-start because of the motivation to beat his former teammates.
