Mark Pysyk News
Pysyk was working his way back from Achilles surgery in July but has reinjured it and is not expected to be back any time soon. Pysyk signed a one-year, $850K deal with the Red Wings in July.
Pysyk spent 2022 with the Sabres, scoring three goals with nine assists (12 points) in 68 games. Detroit will be Pysyk's fourth team in four years, playing with Florida, Dallas and Buffalo previously. He's a nice depth piece, with the flexibility to play defence or the wing in a pinch.
Pysyk was a healthy scratch in Montreal on Sunday but will replace Robert Hagg in the lineup on Tuesday. Pysyk has not registered a goal since December 16th, posting just three assists in 17 games since then.
Pysyk served as a forward and defenseman for the Panthers in 2020, finishing the season with career-highs in goals (9) and points (18) in just 58 games. Pysyk will likely serve as a third-pairing defenseman in Dallas but could play forward in a pinch.
Pysyk is expected to come out of the lineup in Pittsburgh with Jayce Hawryluk drawing back in to replace him.
Pysyk has missed the last nine games with an upper-body injury, but will replace Alex Petrovic on Saturday. Pysyk has just two assists in five games this season.
Pysyk hasn’t played since November 19th, because of a foot injury, but is back with the Sabres after a three-game conditioning stint with Rochester. During his time with the Americans, Pysyk has one assist. He could be back in the lineup on Tuesday.
Pysyk will take a seat on Thursday because of an upper-body injury. With Pysyk out, Carlo Colaiacovo will be back in the lineup.
