Martin Brodeur News

Although head coach Pete DeBoer said Sunday that Martin Brodeur was going to play in the scrimmage, he is not out there. A Devils spokesperson said GM Lou Lamoriello said both have “lower-body” issues, “nothing serious.”

Brodeur is coming off an injury-plagued season where he only started 56 games. The Hall of Fame netminder will likely continue to be coddled during the preseason.

General manager Lou Lamoriello acknowledged that there is no battle for goaltending jobs in training camp this year. Brodeur is No. 1 and Johan Hedberg is back as his backup.

Due to his awful first half, Brodeur's ADP is currently 65, putting him the 6th or 7th round. If you still need a starting goalie that late in the draft, he should play much better than most other available options, despite his age and clear-cut decline.
