Pavelec and Michael Hutchinson are expected to split playing time like they did last season, but it will be Pavelec who will man the crease in the season opener. He outplayed Hutchinson in the preseason, posting a 2-0-1 record, 2.41 GAA and .921 SV% in four games. The 28-year-old did not face the Bruins last year, but went 10-8-5 with a 2.00 GAA and .932 SV% in 23 starts on the road last year.

Pavelec allowed five goals on 31 shots in the Jets 5-4 overtime loss in Game 3. After losing the first three games of the series, the Jets are up against the wall tonight. Pavelec has posted a 3.61 GAA and .893 SV% through three games, but the Jets will need to be better defensively in front of him if they don’t want to get swept tonight.

Pavelec made 37 saves on 39 shots in the Jets 2-1 loss in Game 2. He has allowed a total of six goals on 72 shots (.917 SV%) in the first two games of the series. The Jets have only provided him with three goals of run support, but with the series shifting back to Winnipeg they should be able to feed off of the home crowd in Game 3.
