Stolarz will start Friday in Anaheim. Stolarz allowed three goals on 22 shots in the Panthers' win in San Jose on Tuesday. Stolarz has had very easy matchups so far this season, facing the Sharks twice and the Blackhawks once, and he's gone 2-1-0 with an .892 SV%. You'd certainly expect him to have better numbers, but he draws another strong matchup tonight vs. his former team, the Ducks, who will be without Trevor Zegras and Leo Carlsson. Source: Doug Plagens
Alex Lyon will make his Red Wings' debut Friday vs. Toronto in Sweden. Lyon signed a two-year, $1.8 million ($900,000 AAV) contract with Detroit in the offseason but has yet to make an appearance after 16 games. The 30-year-old veteran netminder had an inspirational run to the playoffs with Florida in 2022-23, where he put up a 9-4-2 record, .914 SV% and 2.89 GAA. He will take on the Maple Leafs as part of Detroit's second game of the Global Series, who has won their last two games and are ninth in the NHL in goals per game (3.53). Source: Daniella Bruce
Eric Comrie will start Friday vs. Buffalo. Comrie has not played since October 27 after suffering a lower-body injury but will be available to play on Friday. Before his injury, Comrie played well, posting a 2.45 GAA and .914 SV% in three games (1-1-0). The Sabres have leaned heavily on the tandem of Devon Levi and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in his absence but the Sabres will give Comrie the opportunity to immediately rediscover some of his early season pedigree as the starting goalie against the Winnipeg Jets.Source: John Lu
John Gibson will start Friday vs. Florida. Gibson has played tremendously of late but will be seriously put to the test on Friday against the Florida Panthers. In his last four games (3-1-0), Gibson has been brilliant, saving 118 of 124 shots (.952 SV%), his best stretch of play this season. That said, the Ducks, who will be without Trevor Zegras and Leo Carlsson, are +149 home underdogs against a Panthers team that, despite losing 2-1 to the Los Angeles Kings last night, has won five of their last six games (5-1-0).Source: Alyson Lozoff
