Anaheim Ducks News

The Predators have acquired Mikael Granlund from the Wild for Kevin Fiala.

The Predators were likely looking to add a centre like Matt Duchene or Kevin Hayes but pivoted to Granlund when those two were traded to Columbus and Winnipeg respectively. Granlund is a player who plays on the wing as well and is know primarily as a playmaker, but is on-pace for his third straight 20-plus goal season. Granlund seems like a player who will either bump Kyle Turris down the lineup and centre the second line or play on Turris’ wing.

The Ducks recalled Troy Terry from San Diego (AHL).

Terry started the season with the Ducks but did not register a point in six games. The 21-year-old has played very well in San Diego, scoring 16 goals and 21 assists (37 points) in 32 games. He is expected to play for Jakob Silfverberg on Thursday and should see top-9 minutes.

The Blues have sent Ville Husso to San Antonio (AHL).

Husso was recalled on Monday because Jake Allen was dealing with an injury, but it was not as serious as originally expected. Husso’s return to the AHL means that Allen will at least be available to backup on Thursday.

The Ducks have sent Troy Terry to San Diego (AHL).

Terry was given a great chance to play on the Ducks top line to start the season, but has not recorded a point in six games and has recently moved down the lineup. He heads to San Diego where he figures to get his offensive game going and likely return to Anaheim shortly.

The Panthers have signed Frank Vatrano to a one-year deal worth $925K.

Vatrano split his 2018 season between the Bruins and Panthers. The 23-year-old had eight points (5G / 3A) in 16 games with Florida, finishing the year with 10 points (7G / 3A) in 41 games. Vatrano seemed to have found a nice home in Florida and should be a bottom-6 winger with them to start 2019.

The Blues have recalled Ville Husson from San Antonio (AHL).

Husso was Jake Allen’s backup on Saturday but went down to get a start with San Antonio, where he posted a 21-save shutout on Sunday, and he returns to backup Allen tonight in Anaheim. Husso’s recall means that Carter Hutton still is not ready to go.

Vatrano (lower-body) is expected to make his Panthers debut on Saturday.

Vatrano has been sidelined since February 6th with a lower-body injury, but it looks like he’ll play tonight vs. the Rangers. Vatrano appeared to have a bright future in Boston but was passed on the depth chart by players like Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen. He will make his Panthers debut with 20 goals and 11 assists (31 points) in 108 career NHL games.

Vatrano left Tuesday’s game with a lower-body injury; doubtful to play on Wednesday.

Vatrano recorded one shot in 4:53 TOI before leaving last night’s game in Detroit. Vatrano is listed as doubtful with a lower-body injury, but there was a good chance he came out anyways with Brad Marchand returning from a five-game suspension.

Kreider has been diagnosed with a blood clot in his right arm and is out indefinitely.

Kreider reportedly left the first period because his arm felt weird and he was sent to the hospital where they discovered he has a blood clot in his arm. Kreider will be sidelined for an extended period of time. Players with similar blood clots have missed about 6-8 weeks.

Kreider left Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Kreider did not return after the first period of Wednesday’s shootout win over the Capitals after sustaining an upper-body injury. Head coach Alain Vigneault said that they will have an update on Kreider on Thursday, so consider him questionable for Friday’s game in Detroit.
