Hofer is expected to make his first NHL start of the 2022-23 season after pitching a 22-14-4 record, .920 SV% and 2.50 GAA with the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL). The 22-year-old has previously played in two NHL games, posting a 1-1-0 record, 3.07 GAA and .880 SV%. He will face the Washington Capitals, who won their last game 5-4 over Buffalo in a shootout and are 18th in the NHL in both shots per game (31.3) and goals per game (3.1).

Nick Jensen will be a game-time decision Friday vs. St. Louis (undisclosed).

Jensen has two goals, 22 assists, 18 PIMs 89 SOG, and a -1 plus/minus through 66 games played this season but will be a game-time decision Friday as he deals with an undisclosed injury. The Capitals will announce if the 32-year-old defenseman is playing during warmups.

Milano has missed the Capitals' previous two games due to an illness but is expected to return to Washington's lineup Friday vs. St. Louis. The 26-year-old has 10 goals, 19 assists, 72 SOG, and 14 PIMs through 54 games this season prior to missing the last few games.

The league's oldest active player has been incredible at the ripe age of 41, with his 10-9-2 record, 2.79 GAA and,917 SV%. He will take on the Philadelphia Flyers, who are in the midst of a four-game losing streak after a 5-3 loss to Vegas last game.

Holl will be a healthy scratch on Friday.

Holl has two goals, 12 assists, 48 SOG, 35 PIMs and a +16 plus/minus through 66 games played this season but will be a healthy scratch Friday. He will be replaced by Luke Schenn, who is making his Maple Leafs' debit this season after being traded for at the Trade Deadline.

Murray allowed four goals on 29 shots (.862 SV%) for his third loss in four decisions last game as he was beaten by Buffalo in his previous start. The 28-year-old has struggled in his first season in Toronto, battling injuries to a 12-7-2 record, 2.92 GAA and .903 SV%. He will take on their provincial rival, Ottawa Senators, who are in the midst of a four-game losing skid after a 5-4 loss to Colorado last game.

He will take on Carolina, who has won five of their last seven games and is third in the NHL in shots per game (34.9).

The 24-year-old has played well despite minimal help this season, leading to his 17-21-10 record, 2.96 GAA and .906 SV%. He will take on the Buffalo Sabres, who have lost five of their last six games but are third in the NHL in goals per game (3.66).

The Red Wings have recalled Austin Czarnik from Grand Rapids (AHL).

Czarnik had 14 goals, 23 assists, eight PIMs and a -4 plus/minus through 43 games with Grand Rapids (AHL) and has been recalled Friday to Detroit. He returns to the Red Wings, where he collected two goals and an assist across 15 games earlier in the year.

Quick stopped 27 of 30 shots (.900 SV%) for his fourth-straight victory and to stay undefeated as a Golden Knight as he beat Philadelphia last start. The 37-year-old has been a revelation since being acquired by Vegas at the trade deadline from Columbus, posting a 4-0-0 record, 2.22 GAA and .930 SV%. He will face the Calgary Flames, who have lost two of their last three games but are second in the NHL in shots per game (35.7).

Thomas Chabot is on the ice for the Ottawa Senators' warmups Thursday (undisclosed).

Chabot missed the Senators' previous game due to an undisclosed injury and took warmups Thursday vs. Colorado after being a game-time decision. The 26-year-old has nine goals, 27 assists, 158 SOG, 50 PIMs and a -13 plus/minus through 61 games played prior to the injury.
