It was a great outing for Rask, who has now stopped 129 of the last 137 shots (.942 SV%) that he has faced (dating back to October 23rd in Ottawa). Tonight he faces a suddenly surging Red Wings team, who he stopped 32 of 34 shots against in an 8-2 win in mid-October.
Petersen allowed four goals on 42 shots in the Kings loss in Nashville on Saturday. Petersen has been excellent in his first two NHL starts, turning aside 72 of the 77 shots (.935 SV%) that he has faced. Ottawa comes in having won three of their last four games, but Reimer remains a solid spot-start or daily option.
Hutton allowed one goal on 26 shots in the Sabres win in Winnipeg last Friday. Hutton is heating up, winning four in a row while posting a 1.56 GAA and .942 SV%. Tonight he faces a Penguins team that has lost seven of their last eight. Hutton is 3-4-0 with a 2.39 GAA and .915 SV% on the road.
DeSmith allowed three goals on 15 shots after replacing Matt Murray in the Penguins loss in Ottawa on Saturday. Despite posting a strong 2.27 GAA, .927 SV% and one shutout, DeSmith is 1-3-0 in three starts and three relief appearances in November. Tonight he gets a Sabres team that is on a five-game winning streak.
