Murray allowed two goals on 30 shots in the Penguins’ loss to the Flames on Tuesday. Murray has gone 2-2-1 with a .915 SV% in his last five games and tonight he’ll face the NHL’s worst team in Colorado. Murray is 8-5-0 with a 2.46 GAA and .913 SV% in 13 starts and one relief appearance on the road.
Budaj allowed five goals on 21 shots in the Kings’ 5-0 loss in Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Budaj followed up five straight wins with two rough losses—he has allowed a combined nine goals on the last 36 shots (.750 SV%) that he has faced. Tonight he’ll face the Panthers in Florida—he has gone 10-11-2 with a 1.98 GAA and .925 SV% on the road this season.
Smith allowed two goals on 40 shots in the Coyotes win in San Jose last Saturday. Smith has had a lot of success against the Sharks this season and tonight he’ll make his first start of the season vs. Montreal. Smith has gone 8-9-2 with a 2.80 GAA and .918 SV% on home ice this season and the Canadiens come in struggling mightily.
Allen stopped all 30 shots that he faced in the Blues’ shutout win in Ottawa on Tuesday. Allen was struggling, but has played well in his last three starts, stopping 83 of 87 shots (.954 SV%). One of those games were against the Maple Leafs, who he will face again tonight—he allowed one goal on 27 shots in a win last Thursday.
Gostisbehere served as a healthy scratch in the last three games, but will draw back into the lineup tonight after the Flyers were shutout in two straight games. Gostisbehere had a sensational rookie campaign, but has had some struggles in 2016-17. The man known as the “Ghost Bear” has four goals and 17 assists (21 points) in 48 games this season.
Lehtonen allowed four goals on 35 shots in the Stars’ loss to the Blackhawks last Saturday. Antti Niemi started on Tuesday, but it looks like they’ll come back to Lehtonen tonight in Ottawa. Lehtonen has lost two in a row while allowing four goals in each start and tonight he faces a Sens team that has lost four of five.
Mrazek allowed three goals on 27 shots in the Red Wings’ overtime loss to the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. The loss snapped a brief two-game winning streak for Mrazek, who will make his fourth consecutive start tonight. Mrazek has stopped 98 of 105 shots (.933 SV%) in his three previous starts. He’ll face a Capitals team that has won five of their last six.
Saros allowed five goals on 37 shots in the Predators’ loss to the Sabres on January 24th. Pekka Rinne started the last five games, but it looks Saros will start tonight in New York. Saros was great in his first start vs. the Rangers, stopping 26 of 27 shots in an eventual 2-1 shootout loss.
Clendening was a healthy scratch for the last four games, but he will replace Dan Girardi (ankle) in the lineup tonight vs. the Predators. Clendening has one goal and seven assists (eight points) in 18 games this season.
Girardi is day-to-day because his ankle is swollen and needed stitches after Tuesday’s game vs. the Ducks. With Girardi out, Nick Holden should move up and play with Ryan McDonagh and Adam Clendening will draw back into the lineup.
Because the Bruins will not hold a morning skate, we won't get an idea of who starts until closer to game-time. Head coach Claud Juien rarely announced his starting goaltender, but we shall see if interim head coach Bruce Cassidy changes that mentality in Boston.
