Holtby was a late scratch from Wednesday’s game in Winnipeg and he will miss his second straight game on Friday. With Holtby out, Pheonix Copley is expected to start and Ilya Samsonov will be called up.
Oshie was hurt late in Wednesday’s game in Winnipeg and he will not play Friday in Colorado. With Oshie and Evgeny Kuznetsov out, players from Washington’s third line (Burakovsky—Eller—Connolly) will have to take on a larger role.
Kuznetsov was injured in Winnipeg on Wednesday and will not play Friday in Colorado. The Capitals will be shorthanded with both Kuznetsov and T.J. Oshie out with upper-body injuries. Lars Eller is expected to skate with Alex Ovechkin while Kuznetsov is out.

Rask has had some struggles this season and will be in tough vs. a good offence with an extremely banged up blueline in front of him.

However, he draws a brutal road matchup tonight in Winnipeg—the 32-year-old is 2-4-0 with a 2.69 GAA and .907 SV% on the road this year.
Dubnyk allowed two goals on 27 shots in the Wild’ win over the Canucks on Thursday. Dubnyk has won three of his last four (3-1-0) while posting a 2.50 GAA and .916 SV%. Dubnyk has been impressive over 15 starts this season, including 5-1-2 with a 2.45 GAA and .928 SV% on home-ice this season.
Bishop allowed five goals on 34 shots in the Stars loss to the Predators last Saturday. Bishop and Anton Khudobin have been splitting time and tonight is Bishop’s turn between the pipes. The 31-year-old is 4-2-1 with a 2.57 GAA, .918 SV% and one shutout on home-ice this season.
Crawford stopped all 28 shots that he faced in the Blackhawks shutout win over the Blues on Wednesday. It was a much needed performance from Crawford, who snapped a five-game losing streak in the process. The 33-year-old returns home, where he is 3-2-0 with a 1.83 GAA, .934 SV% and one shutout in five starts this season.
Russo, 25, has registered eight assists in 13 games with Tucson this season. The former fourth-round pick has been called up because the Coyotes blueline is without Jakob Chychrun, Alex Goligoski and Jason Demers, who was injured last night. Russo has no points in 19 career NHL games (all with the Red Wings).
Demers was forced to leave Thursday’s game late in the third period after suffering an apparent right leg injury. Demers was unable to put weight on his leg as he was being helped off of the ice, suggesting that he could miss an extended period of time.
Parise was scratched on Thursday after being listed as a healthy scratch, but will play Saturday vs. the Sabres. Parise, who has 16 points (7G / 9A) in 18 games this season, was back on a line with Mikko Koivu and Nino Niederreiter this morning.
Elliott was forced to leave Thursday’s game vs. the Devils and will miss at least two weeks with a lower-body injury. With Michal Neuvirth already on IR, the Flyers will roll with Calvin Pickard and Alex Lyon as their goaltending duo for the time being.
Klingberg underwent surgery on his hand last Friday and will miss at least five weeks. Klingberg’s original timetable was “one month,” but head coach Jim Montgomery said he would “take that deal” if Klingberg was out for six weeks. This puts Klingberg on-pace to return in late-December/early-January which will give Miro Heiskanen an extended run on the Stars top-pairing and top power-play unit.
