Ruhwedel, 26, was with the Sabres’ organization from 2013-2016 before signing with the Penguins this summer. The undrafted defenseman has seven points (2G / 5A) in 10 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, but will serve as a healthy scratch during Tuesday’s game.
Oleksy has one goal and three assists (four points) in 10 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) this season. The 30-year-old blueliner has appeared in 62 career NHL games with the Capitals, but will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday following his call-up to the Penguins.
Ward allowed two goals on 27 shots in the Hurricanes win in Nashville on Saturday. Eddie Lack started on Sunday, but they’ll go back to Ward tonight in New Jersey. Ward has gone 2-1-1 with a 2.43 GAA and .915 SV% in his last four starts. Tonight he will take on a Devils team that is 4-1-2 while averaging 2.86 goals per game.
Budaj stopped all 24 shots that he faced in the Kings’ 5-0 shutout win vs. the Flames on Saturday. Budaj has won two in a row and six of his nine starts while posting a 2.06 GAA and .912 SV%. Tonight he will take on a Maple Leafs team that has won three in a row and sit at 5-4-3, while averaging 3.08 goals per game (tied for sixth) so far this season.
Howard allowed two goals on 28 shots in the Red Wings’ 2-1 loss to the Oilers on Sunday. It was the first time that Howard has allowed more than one goal in a game and will make a second straight start tonight in Philadelphia. Howard has registered a fantastic 1.12 GAA and .965 SV% in four starts and one relief appearance this season.
Markstrom allowed on goal on 24 shots in the Canucks’ 1-0 shutout loss in Ottawa last Thursday. After winning his first three starts, Markstrom has dropped his last three games (0-2-1) while posting a 2.63 GAA and .910 SV%. Markstrom is a risky start whenever he gets the call, but even more so tonight vs. the Rangers, who lead the NHL with 4.23 goals per game.
Hellebuyck was pulled after he allowed four goals on 16 shots in the Jets’ loss in New York on Sunday. It was a rough outing for Hellebuyck, who will make his third consecutive start tonight vs. the Stars. Hellebuyck has a pedestrian .900 SV% in eight appearances this season, but his matchup makes him an interesting option on Tuesday—the banged up Stars are 18th in the NHL in scoring (2.58 G/PG).
Price allowed four goals on 38 shots in the Canadiens’ win over the Flyers on Saturday. Price has won all seven of his starts to start 2016-17, while posting 1.57 GAA, .952 SV% and one shutout. Tonight he will take on a Boston team that he has dominated in his career—he stopped 19 of 21 shots in a 4-2 win over the Bruins in his second start of the year (Oct. 22).
Labanc has picked up 10 points (4G / 6A) in six games with the Barracuda, earning himself his first NHL call-up. Lebanc was a sixth round pick in 2014, but had an absurd 234 points (70G / 164A) in the last two season with the Barrie Colts (OHL). Lebanc is skating on a line with Logan Couture and Joonas Donskoi in Tuesday’s morning skate.
Faulk left Sunday’s game vs. the Devils with an undisclosed injury and it will keep him out of Monday’s game. Faulk is arguably the Hurricanes’ most important player, so this is a huge loss. Consider him day-to-day until more information on his injury is released.
Raanta stopped 35 of 37 shots in the Rangers’ win in Boston on Saturday. Henrik Lundqvist started on Sunday, but they’ll go back to Raanta tonight vs. the Canucks. Raanta is 3-0-0 with a 2.34 GAA and .930 SV% in his only three starts and makes for a top-option tonight. Vancouver has lost nine in a row while averaging just 1.33 goals per game and 3.56 goals against.
Holtby gave up two goals on 24 shots in the Capitals’ win over the Panthers on Saturday. Holtby has won four consecutive starts while posting a 1.98 GAA and .932 SV%. Tonight he will take on a Sharks team that has lost three in a row and sit at .500 on the year. Holtby is 3-1-0 with a 2.24 GAA and .908 SV% in four starts on home ice.
Schneider allowed four goals on 35 shots in the Devils’ loss in Tampa Bay on Saturday. Keith Kinkaid started on Sunday, but they’ll go back to Schneider tonight vs. the Hurricanes. Schneider has lost his last two starts while allowed a combined four goals 66 shots (.879 SV%). Despite a few rough games, Schneider remains a high-end option tonight vs. Carolina.
Murray stopped all 32 shots that he faced in the Penguins’ shutout win in San Jose on Saturday. Murray has won each of his first two starts since returning from a broken hand, stopping 64 of 65 shots (.985 SV%). Tonight he will face an Oilers team that has gone 2-1-1 while averaging 2.50 goals per game in the first four games of their road trip.
Mason was yanked after allowing three goals on 13 shots in the Flyers’ loss to the Penguins on October 29th. Michal Neuvirth started the last four games, but Mason will get back between the pipes tonight vs. Detroit. Mason has posted an ugly 3.46 GAA and .878 SV% in eight games so far this season and is a risky start whenever he gets the nod right now.

Fiala picked up two goals on 18 shots in 10 games with the Predators. The 20-year-old, former 11th overall pick (2014) has not developed the way the Predators have hoped, so he returns to Milwaukee, where he had 50 points (18G / 32A) in 66 games last year. Pontus Aberg has been recalled to replace Fiala.
Aberg, 23, was a second round pick (37th overall) in 2012 and has had a great start to 2016-17, picking up nine points (5G / 4A) in nine games with Milwaukee. Aberg replaces Kevin Fiala on the Predators’ roster and should make his NHL debut on Tuesday.
