Lehtonen surrendered two goals on 40 shots in the Stars win over the Jets on Saturday. That is two straight win and four of the last six for Lehtonen, who sits with a 2.96 GAA and 905 SV% on the year. He allowed four goals on 30 shots in a loss to the Avs in their last meeting.
Pavelec stopped all four shots that he faced after replacing Michael Hutchinson in the Jets loss to the Flames last night. Pavelec went 2-2-1 with a 3.11 GAA and .911 SV% in January. Tonight he faces a Canucks team who have lost three of their last four games.
Quick allowed two goals on 32 shots in the Kings loss in Boston on Saturday. Quick is one guy who is happy to see January end—he was 2-4-3 with a 3.18 GAA and .878 SV% last month. On Tuesday it looks like he will take on the Capitals in Washington—Quick is 3-8-5 with a 2.84 GAA and .901 SV% on the road this season
Luongo got the start last night and didn’t play particularly well, Montoya will start tonight on Long Island. He stopped all 10 shots he faced in relief of Lu on January 27th vs. Detroit. Montoya is 3-4-2 with a 2.96 GAA and .891 SV% this season and has a terrible matchup tonight, so look elsewhere.
The Islanders announced that Okposo would be out for six to eight weeks, but they did not disclose the injury. Okposo had 14 goals and 30 assists (44 points) in 46 games before getting injured. The Isles have lost two of three without K.O.
Ward was given the morning off for maintenance, but will dress tonight in Anaheim. Ward was given a chance to wrestle the number-1 job back from Khudobin, but faltered, allowing four goals in a loss to the Rangers on Saturday.
Khudobin was pulled after giving up two goals on three shots in the Hurricanes shootout loss to the Blues last Friday. It was a rough outing for Khudobin, who was riding a three-game winning streak entering Friday. He will get a chance to bounce-back, but it won’t be easy as he gets set to take on the Ducks in Anaheim.
Hiller allowed two goals on 19 shots in the Flames win over the Jets on Monday. Hiller continues to play great post All Star break—3-1-0 / 1.58 GAA / .932 SV%. Tonight he makes his first start against the Sharks this season, but this is a team he is very familiar with from his days with Ducks. He was 1-0-1 with a 2.88 GAA and .915 SV% vs. San Jose a season ago.
Howard has missed the last eight games with a groin injury and will miss at least two more, but he is hopeful that he will be back next week. With Howie getting really close and Jonas Gustavsson on a conditioning stint in Grand Rapids, Petr Mrazek’s run with the Wings is likely nearly over.
Dubnyk turned aside 35 of 37 shots that he faced in the Wild’s win in Vancouver on Sunday. He has won three in a row while registering a 1.00 GAA and .967 SV%. Dubnyk is enjoying an NHL rebirth this season and the Wild are loving the consistency he has brought to their crease. All that said, he has a terrible matchup this evening.
Robidas has not played in the last seven games, but will replace Petter Granberg in the lineup tonight in Nashville. Robidas has five assists and leads the Maple Leafs in plus/minus with a plus-11 rating.
Raffl has missed the last three games and will very likely miss Thursday’s game vs. the Islanders. Consider him day-to-day.
Mrazek made 22 saves on 23 shots in the Red Wings win over the Islanders on Saturday. He has been victorious in seven of his last nine starts while posting a 2.90 GAA and .899 SV%. Jonas Gustavsson is back with the Red Wings and Jimmy Howard is expected to be back next week, so this could be Mrazek’s final start before heading back to the AHL.
Lundqvist allowed three goals on 36 shots in the Rangers 6-3 win over the Panthers on Monday. After a slow start the season, King Henrik has climbed his way to sixth in wins (25), seventh in GAA (2.25) and 10th in SV% (.922). Tonight he will likely go head-to-head with Tuukka Rask, who is also red-hot.
