Ullmark (strain) is progressing and has a chance to return on Thursday vs. New Jersey.

Ullmark did not dress in Ottawa's high-scoring 8-7 victory over Los Angeles on Monday due to a strain. The 31-year-old net-minder just signed a four-year, $33 million contract extension with Ottawa last Wednesday. Head Coach Travis Green said Ullmark has a possibility to be ready for the Senators' next contest on Thursday.

Linus Ullmark
Georgiev is expected to start on Wednesday vs. Boston.

For the fourth straight game to start the season, the winless Avalanche (0-3-0) will turn to Georgiev between the pipes again. Georgiev has struggled immensely early in the 2024-25 campaign, including being pulled twice, posting an abysmal 6.58 GAA and .787 SV% in three outings (0-2-0). The 28-year-old Georgiev had a forgetful 2023-24 season as well, showcasing a 3.02 GAA and .897 SV% in 63 games (38-18-5). If Georgiev can't turn his game around soon, it likely won't be long before Jared Bednar and the Avalanche coaching staff give Justus Annunen a chance to overtake the starting position in goal. Colorado enters action on Wednesday as a -124 home favorite against the Boston Bruins.

Alexandar Georgiev
Talbot will start on Thursday vs. New York.

Despite a remarkable 42-save shutout for Talbot in his first start of the season, the Red Wings opted to turn to Alex Lyon in the crease in their last game. Lyon and the Red Wings were unsuccessful in a 4-1 loss to the New York Rangers and will return to Talbot in a rematch against the Rangers on Thursday. Starting a season strong is nothing new for the 37-year-old Talbot, who had a .933 SV% in his first 17 games (12-4-1) with the Los Angeles Kings last season before tailing off with a .904 SV% in his final 37 (15-16-5).

Cam Talbot
Struble (upper-body) is healthy and ready to return to the Canadiens.

Struble missed the first four games of the season due to an upper-body injury but is ready to return the lineup. The 23-year-old defenseman was impressive in his inaugural NHL season, tallying 10 points (3G / 7A), 53 blocks, and 121 hits while averaging 16:07 time-on-ice in 56 games.

Jayden Struble
Rittich will start on Wednesday in Toronto.

With Darcy Kuemper (lower body) sidelined for at least one game, Rittich assumes the role of the Kings' starting netminder on Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 32-year-old Rittich has not played yet this season but will attempt to replicate his stats from a season ago when he emerged as a viable option in the net for the Kings, posting a 2.15 GAA and .921 SV% in 24 contests (13-6-3). The Kings enter action as +158 road underdogs against the Maple Leafs.

David Rittich
Kumeper (lower-body) is day-to-day and will be out on Wednesday in Toronto.

Kuemper had a forgetful outing on Monday afternoon, allowing eight goals on 41 shots (.805 SV%) in an 8-7 overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators. Adding insult to injury, Kuemper is dealing with a lower-body issue and will be out of the lineup on a day-to-day basis. The Kings have recalled Phoenix Copley from the Ontario Reign (AHL), who will serve as the backup to David Rittich on Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Darcy Kuemper
Edmundson (personal) has been designated non-roster player status.

Edmundson was absent from practice on Tuesday due to the birth of his child. The veteran defenseman suffered a -1 plus/minus in the Kings marathon 8-7 overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators on Monday afternoon and has one point (0G / 1A) in three games this season. He is not expected to miss an extended period of time.

Joel Edmundson
Copley has been recalled on an emergency basis from Ontario (AHL).

Darcy Kuemper (lower body) is out day-to-day, resulting in Copley's first call-up to the Kings this season. Copley played eight games with the Kings last season (4-1-2), posting a 3.16 GAA and .870 SV%, and has a 3.04 GAA and .864 SV% after one game with the Ontario Reign (1-0-0) this season. Copley will serve as the backup to David Rittich on Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Pheonix Copley
Jarry will start on Wednesday in Buffalo.

Jarry has struggled to start the 2024-25 campaign but salvaged his first victory in his most recent outing, saving 24 of 27 shots (.889 SV%) in a 6-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens. The 29-year-old Jarry has an ugly 4.50 GAA and .866 SV% through two games this season (1-1-0). The Penguins enter action on Wednesday as -124 home favorites against a Buffalo Sabres club that defeated the Florida Panthers 5-2 in their last game, scoring more than one goal for the first time in four tries this season (1-3-0).

Tristan Jarry
Stienburg is expected to make his NHL debut on Wednesday vs. Boston.

Stienburg was the 63rd overall pick of the Avalanche in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and will make his NHL debut on Wednesday against the Boston Bruins. The 24-year-old Halifax native has amassed 16 points (6G / 10A) in 60 games over the last three seasons with the Colorado Eagles (AHL).

Matthew Stienburg
Luukkonen will start on Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

The Sabres have alternated netminders through their first four games this season, a trend that will continue into game five when Luukkonen takes the crease against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Between Luukkonen and Devon Levi, Luukkonen has been the less impressive of the two goalies for the Sabres but was serviceable in his last outing when he saved 20 of 22 shots (.909 SV%) in a 3-1 losing effort to the Los Angeles Kings. The Sabres enter action as slight +105 road underdogs against the Penguins.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen
Peterka (concussion) will return on Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

Peterka has missed two straight games due to a concussion but has been practicing with the team for a week and will return to the lineup on Wednesday. The 22-year-old Peterka broke out last season with 50 points (28G / 22A) in 82 games. He is expected to suit up on the Sabres' top line with Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch.

JJ Peterka
Stolarz will start on Wednesday vs. Los Angeles.

With Joseph Woll (lower-body) still sidelined, the Maple Leafs will turn to Stolarz between the pipes for the third time in their first four games. The 31-year-old Stolarz was incredible last season, posting a 2.03 GAA and .925 SV% in 27 outings (16-7-2), and has picked up where he left off, showcasing a tremendous 1.54 GAA and .940 SV% through two games this season (1-1-0). The Maple Leafs enter action as -173 home favorites against a Los Angeles Kings club that was defeated 8-7 by the Ottawa Senators in their last contest.

Anthony Stolarz
Tavares (illness) will return on Wednesday vs. Los Angeles.

Tavares did not play on Saturday against the Penguins due to an illness but was back at practice as a full participant on Tuesday and will return to his usual spot in the lineup on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Kings. He has one point (0G / 1A) in two games so far this season.

John Tavares
Jarry was the first goalie off the ice at Pittsburgh's morning skate.
