Callahan likely will be used as an AHL defender with the potential to move up in the lineup. Last season he posted an assist over 27 games.
NHL Hockey Player News
Hanzal scored 10 goals and 26 points last season following back-to-back 30-point seasons. He will start the season on the second line, providing solid two-way play.

Last season the 14th overall pick scored four goals and 13 points in 38 games for Northeastern University. He left college this past offseason to play for the Saginaw Spirit. Expect him to make the big club within a season or two.

Parker scored 45 goals and 86 points over 71 games last season with the Prince Albert Raiders. His signing provides depth for their AHL affiliate.
Boychuk scored 18 goals and 35 points last season as a member of the Portland Winterhawks. His signing provides depth for their AHL affiliate.

Very smart move by the Coyotes to lock down their biggest attraction. Biz Nasty, unfortunately, won't take you far in your fantasy hockey leagues.

Sykora earned a job following a very strong preseason. Last season, the former 18th overall pick split the year between the Czech league and the KHL. His fantasy hockey value should be determined by how long Travis Zajac stays out of the lineup.
Saad figures to start the season on the top line and could very well stay there if he produces. Once projected to go in the top 10, the 43rd overall pick of this year's draft is one of the biggest surprises of the preseason. Last season, the 18-year-old scored 27 goals and 55 points in 59 games with the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL.

The team's third round pick in 2010 scored seven goals and 38 points through 73 games in the WHL, split between the Tri-City Americans and Calgary Hitmen.

Last season Pandolfo scored two goals for six points over 12 games with the AHL's Springfield Falcons. He likely adds depth to the team's fourth line.
Strome impressed last season in the OHL, scoring 33 goals and 106 points. His excellent season led many to believe he could be this season's Jeff Skinner. Keep an eye on where Strome lands where the season begins.

Emery's signing signifies the team wants a veteran to help push Corey Crawford. With Anaheim, the Hamilton, Ont. native won seven of 10 starts with a 2.28 GAA and .926 SV%. Look for him to improve on his below average preseason.

If Brunnstrom could succeed anywhere in the NHL, it would be with Detroit. The 26-year-old holds 19 goals and 40 points through 99 career NHL games, which would indicate he has potential similar to a Red Wings forward like Jiri Hudler. Keep the Swedish import in the very back of your mind as he could make an impact filling in for injured Wings.
As one of the better offensive players during the preseason, Scheifele signs his entry-level contract. Scheifele scored 22 goals and 75 points in 66 games with the Barrie Colts of the OHL. Expect at least a nine-game tryout with the big club.

Martindale inks a deal following a 34-goal, 83-point season for the Ottawa 67's. He could play another season in the OHL or possibly find a spot in the AHL.
Hunter should provide a veteran presence on the revamped third line. Last season he only produced four points in 17 games but topped 10 goals six times and 20 goals twice over his seven-year career. Look for him to pot at least 10 if fully healthy.
Staios should help solidify the team's defense but has never scored more than eight goals and 28 points in a season. Pass in every possible format.
Feel free to draft him as early as the second round with the understanding he may start the season slowly.

Chimera is a very capable winger who can play anywhere between the second and fourth lines. Last season he scored 10 goals and 26 points through 81 games. Expect him to fight for his playing time over the year.

Campoli could improve in a full season with Montreal after falling out of favor in Ottawa then playing a minor role in Chicago. The former 7th round pick scored four goals and 21 points last season but he could hit 30 points if played in the right situations. The Canadiens have a lethal PP with one offensive defenseman seemingly on a breakout campaign. My guess: Campoli or Yannick Weber.
