Mrazek turned aside 27 of 29 shots in the Red Wings 4-2 win over the Islanders last Monday. Mrazek was excellent in January, going 7-1-1 with a 1.32 GAA, .952 SV% and two shutouts. Mrazek has vaulted himself into the Vezina Trophy conversation, ranking second in the NHL in SV% (.932), third in GAA (2.03), 10th in shutouts (3) and 13th in wins (18). He is a must-start despite drawing a tough matchup vs. the Lightning.

Talbot allowed three on 35 shots in the Oilers 3-2 loss in Dallas on Thursday. Talbot has gone 4-3-1 with a 1.82 GAA and .938 SV% in eight starts this month. Tonight will be Talbot’s second start vs. the Predators—he allowed two goals on 26 shots in a 2-0 loss back in October. Nashville comes in having lost six of their last eight.

Mrazek allowed two goals on 18 shots in the Red Wings loss to the Blues on Wednesday. Brian Elliott stood on his head at the other end and prevented Mrazek from winning his 17th of the season. Despite the loss, Mrazek is still 5-1-1 with a 1.41 GAA and .951 SV% in the month of January and tonight he faces the Sabres who he is 2-1-0 with a 2.96 GAA and .907 SV% against this season.

Talbot allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Oilers win in Florida on Monday. Anders Nilsson started in Tampa Bay on Tuesday, so Talbot will go again tonight in Dallas. Talbot has won two straight and is 4-2-1 with a 1.66 GAA and .941 SV% in January. Tonight he will face a Dallas team that has surprisingly lost seven of their last eight contests.

Mrazek stopped 30 of 31 shots in the Red Wings shootout loss to the Flyers on Sunday. It was another outstanding performance from Mrazek, who is 5-0-1 with a 1.31 GAA and .957 SV% in January. Tonight he will start against the Blues for the first time this season—he is 3-0-0 with a 1.12 GAA and .956 SV% in his career vs. St. Louis.

Talbot allowed one goal on 32 shots in the Oilers win over the Flames on Saturday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Talbot, who will make his third consecutive start tonight in Florida. Talbot has gone 3-2-1 with a 1.60 GAA and .942 SV% in the month of January—in his only start against the Panthers, he allowed two goals on 14 shots in a 2-1 loss.

Tonight he will make his seventh start in the Red Wings’ last eight games, clearly cementing him as the their No. 1 starter. He will face a Flyers team that is 1-4-1 in their last six road games.

Talbot stopped 36 of 37 shots in the Oilers loss in San Jose on Thursday. It was a tough luck loss for Talbot, who performed exceptionally. Talbot has gone 2-2-1 with a 1.74 GAA and .936 SV% in January and tonight will be his third start against the Flames—he has gone 1-1-0 with a 3.43 GAA and .873 SV% in their first two meetings.

Tonight he gets the call in San Jose—Talbot has gone 2-6-2 with a 3.01 GAA and .901 SV% in cities not name Edmonton this season.

Tonight he takes on a Coyotes team that has won four in a row—Mrazek comes in at 9-4-0 with a 2.01 GAA and .939 SV% on the road.

Talbot gave up three goals on 26 shots in the Oilers loss to the Lightning Friday. The loss snapped a brief two-game winning streak for Talbot, who is now 2-1-0 with a 1.93 GAA and .933 SV% to start January. He draws a terrible matchup vs. the NHL’s hottest team—the Panthers come in having won 11 in a row while averaging 3.46 goals per game.

Tonight Mrazek will start his fifth consecutive game—he will face the Ducks, who have won five of their last seven games, but have averaged just 2.14 goals per game over that span.

Talbot has had a rollercoaster of a season and comes into tonight with a 7-11-2 record, 2.76 GAA and .910 SV% on the season. Tonight he starts vs. the Lightning on home ice, where he is 5-5-0.
