Mrazek has now won back-to-back games and will make his fourth straight start as the Red Wings continue their road trip in San Jose. The Sharks have lost four of their last six and Mrazek is a strong 7-4-0 with a 2.19 GAA and .933 SV% on the road.

The win snapped a four-game losing skid for the Oilers and was a nice way for Talbot to kickoff the 2016 section of the season. Tonight he will face a Carolina team that has won three of their last five—Talbot is 4-5-0 with a 2.80 GA and .911 SV%.

Talbot stopped 34 of 35 shots in the Oilers 1-0 loss to the Ducks on Thursday. It was a tough loss for Talbot, who played extremely well, and should get the nod today vs. the Coyotes. He has gone 2-3-1 with a 2.41 GAA and .934 SV% in December, clearly his best month as an Oiler. Today he starts on home ice where he has gone 3-5-0 with a 2.81 GAA and .911 SV% this season.

He has gone 2-3-1 with a 2.41 GAA and .934 SV% in December, clearly his best month as an Oiler. Today he starts on home ice where he has gone 3-5-0 with a 2.81 GAA and .911 SV% this season.

Mrazek finished December at 5-4-0 with a 2.50 GAA and .913 SV% and will look to improve as the calendar flips over to 2016. Today he’ll take on the Sabres for the third time this season, he has gone 1-1-0 with a 2.93 GAA and .903 SV% in the first two meetings.

Talbot was yanked after allowing three goals on 14 shots in the Oilers loss vs. the Kings on Tuesday. Talbot has gone 2-2-1 with a 2.68 GAA and .926 SV% in December. He has struggled recently, but has a good matchup against the NHL’s lowest scoring teams. Talbot comes in at 3-4-0 with a 3.06 GAA and .901 SV% on home ice this season.

Mrazek has gone 5-3-0 with a 2.30 GAA and .917 SV% in December and should see the bulk of the starts going forward with Howard struggling. Tonight he faces the Penguins at home, where he has gone 6-3-3 with a 2.15 GAA and .923 SV% this season.

Talbot allowed one goal on seven shots after replacing Anders Nilsson in the Oilers loss in Calgary on Sunday. Talbot has gone 2-1-1 with a 2.27 GAA and .938 SV% in December. Tonight he will make his third start against Kings—in the first two starts, Talbot went 0-2-0 with a 3.56 GAA and .887 SV%.

Larkin missed Saturday’s game with an undisclosed injury, but he skated on the Red Wings’ top line and top power play in the morning skate and is expected to be in the lineup tonight. Larkin has goals in each of his last two games and continues to lead the NHL in plus-minus (+21).
