NHL Hockey Player News

Anderson was the first goalie off of the ice at the Senators' morning skate.

Anderson allowed one goal on 33 shots in the Senators’ win over the Hurricanes on Tuesday. He missed Thursday’s game to be with his wife, but he’s back in the crease tonight vs. the Sabres. Anderson has won three in a row, while stopping 91 of 92 shots (.989 SV%). He is red-hot and is a must-start against a Sabres team that is tied for 25th in scoring (2.30 G/PG).

Craig Anderson
Andersen will start Saturday vs. the Canucks.

Andersen turned aside 42 of 43 shots in the Maple Leafs’ win in Buffalo on Thursday. Andersen has now won two in a row while stopping an impressive 86 of 89 shots (.966 SV%). He has caught fire after a tough start to his Maple Leafs’ career and he’s a must-start against a Vancouver team that has been shutout in four of their last five games.

Halak will be in goal on Saturday vs. Edmonton.

Halak allowed two goals on 42 shots in the Islanders’ shootout loss to the Flyers on Thursday. Halak has lost his last two starts and sits at 2-3-1 with a 2.94 GAA and .908 SV% on the season. Tonight he will take on an Oilers team that has lost their last three games while being outscored 10-5. They’re still tied for seventh in scoring (3.09 G/PG) and represent a rough matchup.

Jaroslav Halak
Elliott will start Saturday in Los Angeles.

Elliott allowed four goals on 21 shots in the Flames’ loss in Chicago on Tuesday. Chad Johnson started on Thursday, so they’ll come back to Elliott tonight in Los Angeles. Elliott’s season has been a rollercoaster so far. He has won three of his last five starts while posting a 2.18 GAA and .921 SV%. He makes for a solid start tonight in Los Angeles—the Kings are 29th in the NHL in scoring (2.00 G/PG).

Brian Elliott
Gibson will be back in goal for the Ducks.

Gibson allowed five goals on 34 shots in the Ducks’ loss to the Penguins on Wednesday. It has been an inconsistent start to the season for Gibson, who has won just four times in nine starts while posting a 2.58 GAA and .911 SV%. As choppy as his play has been, he should make for a fine start tonight vs. the Coyotes.

John Gibson
Hellebuyck will start in goal for the Jets.

Hellebuyck allowed three goals on 27 shots in the Jets’ loss to the Capitals on Tuesday. The Michigan native will enjoy a homecoming tonight as he gets the nod in Detroit. He enters play with a 2-3-0 record, 2.63 GAA and .914 SV% in five starts. In his only other start vs. Detroit, Hellebuyck turned aside 33 of 34 shots in a 4-1 win in Winnipeg.

Connor Hellebuyck
Rieder (lower-body) will be a game-time decision on Friday.

Rieder missed Thursday’s game vs. the Predators, but could be available in Anaheim tonight. Rieder, who has five points (2G / 3A) in nine games is listed as a game-time decision. Monitor his status during pregame warmups at 9:300 p.m. ET.

Tobias Rieder
Domingue will start Friday in Anaheim.

Domingue allowed two goals on 37 shots in the Coyotes’ win over the Predators last night. The win was Domingue’s third in his last four starts—he has posted a 2.71 GAA and .924 SV% over that stretch. Domingue’s game is starting to resemble his play from last year, but he remains a risky option in Anaheim on no rest. Although, the Ducks are without Ryan Getzlaf, Nick Ritchie and Hampus Lindholm.

Louis Domingue
Schneider will start Saturday in Tampa Bay.

Schneider allowed four goals on 31 shots in the Devils’ loss in Florida on Thursday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Schneider, who has won four of his first eight starts while posting a 2.11 GAA and .933 SV%. Tonight he will take on the Lightning for the third time already—he has gone 1-1-0 with a 2.03 GAA and .940 SV% in the first two meetings.

Cory Schneider
Getzlaf (upper-body) will not play on Friday.

Getzlaf skated on his own prior to the Ducks’ morning skate on Friday, but will not play vs. Anaheim. This will be the second straight game that Getzlaf has missed after being a surprise late scratch from Wednesday’s game vs. the Penguins. With Getzlaf out, Rickard Rakell will centre the Ducks’ top line.
