Mason left Thursday’s morning skate with a lower-body injury.

Mason posted a 31-save shutout in his return to the Jets crease on Tuesday but is already out with another injury after suffering a lower-body injury in Thursday’s morning skate. Michael Hutchinson has been recalled from the AHL and will backup Connor Hellebuyck in New Jersey.

Steve Mason
Hellebuyck will start Thursday in New Jersey.

Hellebuyck allowed two goals on 35 shots in the Jets win in Carolina on Saturday. Steve Mason gave him the night off on Tuesday, so Hellebuyck will return to the crease tonight in New Jersey. Hellebuyck stopped 34 of 36 shots in a 5-2 win in his first start vs. the Devils in mid-November.

Connor Hellebuyck
The Blackhawks have signed Jan Rutta to a one-year extension worth a reported $2.25M.

Rutta has had a nice offensive season, picking up six goals and 13 assists (19 points) in his first 43 NHL games. Rutta is also expected to return to the Blackhawks lineup on Thursday—he missed the last four games with a lower-body injury.

Jan Rutta
The Golden Knights have recalled Tomas Hyka from Chicago (AHL) and he will play Thursday.

Hyka was up on an emergency recall last week but has been officially recalled for tonight’s game in Detroit. The 24-year-old has one goal and one assist in six games with the Golden Knights and 34 points (12G / 21A) in 35 games with the Wolves. Hyka will skate on a line with Erik Haula and David Perron.

Tomas Hyka
Vasilevskiy will start Thursday vs. the Rangers.

Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 49 shots in the Lightning’s overtime win over the Panthers on Tuesday. Vasilevskiy has won two in a row despite allowing a combined 10 goals, but faced a whopping 92 shots in those two games. He will face a Rangers team that has torn it down—Vasilevskiy is 22-4-2 with a 2.66 GAA and .915 SV% on home ice.

Andrei Vasilevskiy
Turris is expected to be back in the Predators lineup on Tuesday.

Turris was rested on Tuesday but is expected to replace Kevin Fiala (rest) in the lineup tonight. Turris has picked up nine goals and 19 assists (28 points) in 49 games since being traded to the Predators.

Kyle Turris
Josi (upper-body) is not expected to play on Thursday.

Josi is expected to miss his fourth consecutive game tonight vs. the Ducks. The Predators have been rotating people out of the lineup to give them rest, so they’re definitely not going to rush Josi back in. He was on the ice for the morning skate, but skated as an extra.

Roman Josi
Rinne is expected to start Thursday vs. the Ducks.

Rinne stopped all 26 shots that he faced in the Predators shutout win over the Stars on Tuesday. Rinne is riding a seven-game winning streak, allowing just 13 goals on 226 shots (.942 SV%). Tonight he faces the Ducks for the third time this season—he is 2-0-0 with a 2.41 GAA and .932 SV% in the first two meetings with Anaheim.

Pekka Rinne
Rask (lower-body) will be back between the pipes on Thursday.

Rask allowed four goals on 26 shots in the Bruins win over the Penguins last Thursday. Anton Khudobin started the last two games but it looks like Rask will return from a minor lower-body injury tonight vs. the Flyers. The 30-year-old stopped all 28 shots that he faced in a 3-0 shutout in early-December.

Tuukka Rask
Rask (lower-body) was the first goalie off of the ice at the Bruins morning skate.

Tuukka Rask
Schneider will start Thursday vs. the Jets.

Schneider allowed three goals on 27 shots in the Devils loss to the Golden Knights on Saturday. Since returning to the Devils crease, Schneider has lost both starts while allowing a combined six goals on 56 shots (.893 SV%). The 31-year-old has gone 11-7-3 with a 2.68 GAA and .912 SV% at the Prudential Center this season.

Cory Schneider
Bobrovsky (illness) will backup Joonas Korpisalo on Thursday.

Bobrovsky missed Tuesday’s game vs. the Golden Knights with an illness but is good to backup on Thursday. Korpisalo was great against Vegas so he has been rewarded with a second straight start and it gives Bobrovsky an extra days rest prior to tomorrow’s projected start vs. the Red Wings.

Sergei Bobrovsky
Korpisalo will make his second straight start on Thursday.

Korpisalo stopped 37 of 38 shots in the Blue Jackets win over the Golden Knights on Tuesday. It was a great outing for Korpisalo, who will start the front-end of the Blue Jackets’ back-to-back tonight vs. the Avalanche. The 23-year-old has gone 5-2-0 with a 2.27 GAA and .931 SV% in eight games on home-ice.

Joonas Korpisalo
Howard is in the starter's crease at the Red Wings morning skate.

Howard allowed two goals on 21 shots after replacing Jared Coreau in the Red Wings loss in Boston on Tuesday. The Red Wings are plummeting, which is fine for them at this point in the season and tonight they welcome the Golden Knights for their first ever visit to Little Caesars Arena. Howard is 12-11-6 with a 2.73 GAA and .912 SV% on home ice this year.

Jimmy Howard
Luongo will start Thursday vs. the Canadiens.

Luongo allowed five goals on 33 shots in the Panthers loss in Tampa Bay on Tuesday. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Luongo but he will remain in net tonight vs. the Canadiens. It will be his first start against his hometown team this season and there aren’t too many goalies playing as well as Bobby Lu right now.
